Today Tonight Tue 9th - Ecstacy

^^Because they lead very empty unfulfilling lives. Just look at half the shit that's on these shows, people that complain about getting loans from loansharks they can't pay off, people with 15 kids that bludge of welfare etc etc. Hardly people that are going to question what they're told....
 
Unfortunately the majority of Aus watch these type of shows. Prime time TV is a bunch of crap lies. Last night they had some dumd bitch who gave 40 grand to a clairvoyant (sp?) who turned out to be a fake. Utter crap TV. I suggest everyone turn off and not give them the satisfaction of ratings. Boycott anyone?

After speaking with a researcher at Today Tonight I was informed they will not give out any information about the show to me until it airs. He said the show is 100% factual but will not give away anything due to competition.

I do agree with this but I do feel that Television shows having the right to lie to the public with no course of action before it airs is wrong.
 
No matter what you people read or hear you're just going to keep on sticking up for ecstasy and be in denial. So, what if these MRI scans of the brain are accurate? You're just not going to accept it and keep popping pills until you start to notice negative effects from the drug? What would happen if scientists did some tests and concluded that MDMA is in fact neurotoxic or can cause organic brain damage? You're still going to defend it no matter what?
 
No one here is in denial but it would be a sad day if no one stood up for the truth no matter how small.

Some bullshit was about to be put on the air and during my day I figured for once I will do something about it and see where it leads.

No one said anything about defending no matter what and even in denial about it.
 
Exactly. It's hardly helpful to manipulate people's beliefs through misinformation and scare tactics - it often has the opposite effect when people discover the lies. They grow sceptical of any information, thus rendering the efforts of harm reduction useless.

I know I won't. I've read a bit about different drugs including legal ones and I advocate or the opposite depending entirely on the proven effects of that drug.
 
I thought I missed it because I forgot about it till this afternoon. Now I'm going to watch it tonight just for a laugh. :)

A numerous amount of tests have been done. Have a look at ecstatsy.org under articles. You will understand why we are commenting the way we are. A scientist who conducted tests on monkeys started the whole hole in the brain from ecstasy scare. Actually the tests were botched and lethal doses of meth was actually injected into the monkeys brain to get the scan images of alledged Mdma neurotoxicity. There is alot of misinformation getting spread around by the media. We just want the facts.
 
It sounds like this show is full of holes and just complete sensationalist nonsense aimed at freaking out parents of teenagers.

But who do you think today tonight is aimed at?

The people that watch these sort of current events shows and then beleive everything they hear first time without trying to dig deeper for more information. People this stupid usually breed themselves out of existence anyway ;)

I was recently told by a specialist that some people are more succeptable to life threatening brain injuries due to drug use (amphetamines including MDMA are the highest risk for these people) but it is still only a very small percentage of the population.

Late last year I suffered a brain haemorrhage which caused a small stroke that left permenant damage to my right eye.

Of course it was blamed on drug use.. I'm a little bit sceptical myself.. but I'll listen.. wasn't fun.

SO.. getting to my point.. while these holes in the brain stories may be a load of bullshit, some people are still at risk of serious brain injuries from the use of drugs.

so what happens then? we just ignore everything we hear from the media? ignore all news channels and come straight to the internet to gain our information? haha, you're kidding right?

No that's not what anyone is saying, all anyone here's getting at is that you've got to be discerning about what information you accept readily. Unfortunately TT doesnt fall into the credible information catagory for numerous reasons.

Everyone here is fully aware that ecstasy isn't the best thing on earth for you, but what we want is for it to be represented truthfully instead of having some half wit who wouldn't know MDMA if they fell over it, try to tell us it's full of rat poison and heroin etc.

I would also have liked to see the same scan on a binge drinker of the same age to compare the results of the MRi scan.

oh but they like to keep that one quiet dont they - we all know binge drinking is far worse than most drugs in moderation.

From the trailer seen earlier they say that ecstasy is adulterated with paint stripper and the like. I have never seen a GC/MS show this to be true ever.

I hate this type of program that spreads fear, lies and deceit.

Just watched today tonight and saw the before and after brainscan on that 22yr old girl... I wonder if that is really true... Making me think twice now !

The bits of it I heard last night crapped on with the usual "horse tranquilizer ... paint stripper ... blah blah blah".

Well some ppl like a bit of ketamine in their pills and goodness knows how many 'legal' drugs have "paint stripper" aka acetone, used in the 'wash' stage of manufacture.

It's almost enough to bring on a stroke in all those ppl taking 'rat poison' for their blood pressure. 8)
