Alcohol Tips for dealing with alcohol withdrawal

Go to the ER. It does not matter if there's a baby shower and lots of people are at the house.

People have died from alcohol withdrawal, and attempting to withdrawal/detox on their own. Stay safe.

Update for anyone who cares: I am still currently in bed, never went to the ER out of anxiety and self reassurance/self justification, and am currently experiencing little symptoms. I am slightly shaky and feel as though I have a slight cold. The main part is constipation. My dad talked to the ER nurse that lives across the street from me and she didn't seem worried.

Yeah dude most of the posters were going way overboard with the go to the ER thing, you might die, etc. I know alcohol wd is a serious thing. But the way you described your usage I knew you weren't in any danger for a seizure. But if you continue drinking as much as you do in a couple months it will be very bad. Try to slow down buddy. I can relate since I have bad social anxiety and use drugs and alcohol to feel comfortable around people but it's not the life to live. I wish I can have a benzo prescription but the drug addict in me would abuse the hell out of them..

Yeah, my visiting grandma is about to take me out for dinner and I feel well enough to make it so that's a good sign. I'm getting my methylphenidate prescription again and even though I'm telling myself I'm done with drugs and alcohol, I already know that shit is going up my nose or I'll find some way of abusing it because of the addict in me as well.

Tips on alcohol consumption during w/d's

Hey guys, so I went through my first day of alcohol w/d's today after consuming roughly 8-16 fluid oz. of 40 proof vodka a day for about 2 months. I went through extreme physical pain and anxiety this morning and the rest of the day was just tremors and discomforting hell. I have roughly 3-4 shots of vodka left stashed in my room. I am never allowed internet access because I am forced to pay for my things and have no job currently, but my parents, out of sympathy, are letting me use this laptop for I don't know how long but so far just today and maybe it will be taken tonight.

I am wondering if I drink those 3-4 shots to get a somewhat nice buzz and watch videos and be happy for tonight, what would the penalty on my w/d's be? I'm not sure if I'm looking for justification to drink more due to addiction or if this will help me but it's very tempting and I'm wondering how harmful this would be and if this would make my morning tomorrow hell.

I feel as if since I have internet, that I want to maximize the amount of joy it will bring to me by talking to others and watching funny videos and that it is a waste to do so sober. But now I just sound like a major addict.

Can I get some advice please?

Age: 17 1/2
Weight: 140 lbs (maybe 135 now after w/d's)

Two months of daily drinking is probably not enough to have a seizure, but it's enough to feel really shitty for sure.

Just slow down your drinking or stop. Since drinking so much at 17 you're bound to make a FOOL out of yourself socially. Lol

If being escorted out of school in handcuffs while on 10 shots of vodka and 8 mg of repro alprazolam is making a FOOL out of myself socially, then yes you are right and I definitely have a problem :(

Drinking a shot when the withdrawal gets bad, that would make it a little easier. It would make the withdrawal last a little longer, but it would be milder.

It's difficult if you're 17 and living with your parents. Switching to baclofen or phenibut can take away the alcohol withdrawal completely. If you have access to either one, it's easier to switch to baclofen or phenibut and then taper off slowly.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Unfortunately, as you said, being 17 and living under the authority of two already aware and intelligent but somehow still ignorant authority figures makes it difficult to deal with things in an unorthodoxed way so unfortunately, it seems as if an inpatient rehab facilitation and having them prescribe a tapering med or just tapering with alcohol itself is my only option. Unfortunately, as I said, I only have 3-4 shots so alcohol tapering would be impossible without having to steal from the grocery store again, which as you can imagine, is currently impossible and would be an incredibly retarded idea. So now I feel stuck and I think my dad is going to take the laptop soon and I'll be here, depressed and bored, going through w/d's and that vodka will sit there, begging to be drunk. Fuck lol.

How do your kidneys feel? You sound alot like me tbh though I don't know if that's a good thing. I'd say go ahead and drink your vodka. Just remember how you will potentially feel tomorrow. And you won't have the mental crutch of knowing you have some vodka left. Since by tomorrow it will be gone..

Besides the other advice, drown yourself in Pedialyte, Gatorade and water. You need to replenish your electrolytes.

Throughout the day, I have been feeling "pins and needles" in my bladder and kidney's while and while not urinating. As of right now, they feel weak, I guess you could say, and still the occasional sharp pains. I have also gone to the doctor's recently and found protein in my urine and was told to get blood work and a kidney/bladder ultrasound, which I have recently done (while drunk, sad lol) and am currently awaiting results.

Also, maybe I should drink half? I'm actually terrified of drinking it but tempted at the same time, confusing the fuck out of me rn tbh.

I can relate to the pains as my kidneys and stomach have been hurting off and on for the past month! Everytime it starts to get better I go on a drinking binge and they hurt for days after. It's depressing cuz I want to drink but the pain ugh. So I've been doing other drugs in the meantime. I even went to the ER got blood work and a cat scan on my stomach they tried telling me I got ibs whatever probably not but oh well. If you only drank half of what you got what is that 2 shots? Would that do anything? Lol

It's kind of arbitrary, but you gotta draw the line somewhere -- once you drink yourself in wd's you're done in my book. I goes downhill quick from there. Some people go their whole lives and never get wd's, some people take 10 years of heavy drinking to get there. You did it in 2 months. Your body will heal but it won't forget.

Alcohol is gonna plain suck for you if you continue to choose to drink it. you are now managing a medical condition. close this chapter in your life. I hope you can do so comfortably and safely but either way, get through this and move on.

I hope you reach that same conclusion yourself. Only you can. There are resources on this website for recovery you should look into.

Tapering as best you can with what you've got, that's better than nothing. Sometimes you have to accept that you'll feel bad for a while. Just do your best to get through it. It's one of the shittier parts of life. Find a way to pass the time, and before you know it you'll start feeling better.

Everything changes once you get through the withdrawal.

It sounds like you just have a bad hangover, the vodka will get rid of it but you should just wait til you sober up to drink again a pint a day isn't much but if your not careful you'll be drinking twice that

2 months of daily drinking at 17 with no prior DTs is likely to make you feel like shit but as long as you have someone keep an eye on you and know the situation there is no reason to rush to an ER.
there are signs of alcohol WD which indicate a seizure is likely.

anyways 2 months of daily drinking like this again will make the next wd worse, and on and on. so do not use this to base what you can handle.
stay safe and dont die.

Deeeeefintely not a hangover, and I appreciate the advice, but that's really obvious info...

For how long you've been drinking it's nothing unless you're Staying drunk all day long for about 3 months but that 16 Oz of vodka lasted about an hour it's not that much

I weigh 140 lbs and am 6'2 and have been drinking this much for about two months... 16 oz of 40proof vodka does not last me one hour, I can guarantee you that.
