It's actually just neoliberalism in disguise. Notice how all the mega corporations have now adopted social justice/progressive language and symbols, including pride flags. So if you question their corrupt corporate capitalist ways or do an expose on their staff, they just call you a bigot who's targeting oppressed people and get you cancelled. Neoliberalism has found the trojan horse to silence free speech and dissent as the gateway into unregulated capitalism. This is the real game and the left is failing to realize it because they think the neoliberals are on their side. In reality they will be totally discarded once tyranny is obtained. I never thought I'd see the day that liberalism became pro-corporate. Of course, corporate education via the universities is to blame for this. Talk about the biggest bait and switch ever!
Interestingly enough when i was in the psych ward there where 2 guys in there from former African Belgian colonies. The Condo and Rwanda. I was best friends with the guy from Rwanda his parents had fled the genocide so he had some generation trauma i think though he seemed like just a normal guy to me. Me him and a few other guys would always hot box the bathroom with weed smoke lolc and piss the nurses off it was fun lol.
Funny you mention this... a few weeks before I was leaving (fleeing) NL because I didn't want to be trapped there by the vax passport shit, there was a guy drywalling the upstairs unit who got out of psych about a month earlier. He was seriously the most awake guy I met in my entire time in NL... totally aware of the bullshit, the limited nature of NLers, and was a natural born philosopher and deep thinker. Yet never left NL in his whole life. I felt kind of bad for the guy because his human condition would've probably done waaaay better outside of that province.

NL is karen central, I have never seen so many busybodies in my life.
When I first got to NL it was right before they locked down the province, and I had to do that 2 week quarantine shit. Anyway, a friend at the time would come and visit me but sit outside. After the first week, he just started coming inside. We had beers and watched TV etc. Get this though? After quarantine was over, his mom (who lives on the other side of town) grilled the fuck out of us for not obeying quarantine. At the house I was quarantined at, a neighbour saw my friend coming in and out, told her friend, and her friend knew his mom and told her. This was in St. John's, "the big city" of NL. His mom then shamed the fuck out of him and made him feel like he had embarrassed their whole family legacy lmao.
People there have nothing better to do. They are bored and basic AF. I'm so sorry you have to deal with it. There are some cool people though, you just gotta search. As for dating, I dunno. I'm gay and had a terrible time there. All the guys there are closeted and just want to have sex in the bushes in the park, like it's still 1960 or something. I do miss the nature and landscape though... it was just right there and you could walk to and be totally alone.
