Megathread The Netflix Mega-thread vs Netflix Originals Suck

Been watching so much Peep Show. Thank god I had only seen a few episodes before.

I've officially replaced my cable with Netflix (and dling of course)

Unfortunately Canada still gets the shaft on many titles. Lots of British shows and movies though. I guess they figure Nexflix is the best way to penetrate the N. American market and make a few extra bucks.

I've started Mad Men season 1. I always catch the good shows really late.

"MI-5" It's like a smarter version of 24

i'm watching this inbetween re-runs of downton abbey. 'lix storm' from The Hour is in it, and i loved her.

best thing i saw on netflix recently was bill cunningham new york

so much new york pornography

Super giant fudge balls! Argh! Netflix's contract with Starz is coming to an end and they're not going to renew, so they'll be losing all Starz related titles after 2/29. Would have been nice to have known that earlier than 2/28. :p

NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Netflix HUGE news

They are doing away with a bunch of there old titles, I read it on yahoonews. Where do we go? what do we do? Is it just streaming or the mail in too?

Thinking about cancelling my subscription, even if just to send a message to Netflix. They are supposed to be ADDING titles, not losing them. I remember reading a New York Times article from about four years ago. The article was describing the phenomenon of Netflix streaming and how they were constantly adding content and how it was likely that in a couple of years you would have access to stream every movie ever made, at any time...cough cough...looks like the weatherman was right.

Anyway, I found that idea so epic that I've failed to give up on it, even as Netflix continues to tank itself. Who is their CEO? Did they recruit him from AOL?

Well I did read the article and it said streaming, so the dvd mail in will still be unstoppable. Nice. :)

If you're fed up with Netflix and want more obscure film titles I suggest www.greencine.com

I used them awhile back when I was looking for a number of lesser known titles. The wait for the DVD in mail is longer than Netflix, but you can always just subscribe for a few months and do the copying thang...

City by the Sea -- A very conventional but nevertheless decent crime drama starring De Niro and Frances McDormand. I recommend it just because this thread is getting exhaustive and it's something. It's better than most if you've seen a lot of instant and you're just looking to kill a couple hours at the end of the night.

The Best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog -- If you're a fan of 90s Conan.

Bad Lieutenant (the 90s original) -- Harvey Keitel is a junkie cop investigating nun rape (er something). I remember seeing this years ago and liking it. I'd probably watch this before City by the Sea above.
