The Big & Dandy Psychedelic Media Thread

The guy who directed Blueberry, or Renegade, whose name is Jan Kounen, made a very good documentary about Ayahuasca titled Other Worlds. This is a clip of the ending, which is amazing.

Wow. lots of good stuff in this thread. The spacializer that adrien posted is wicked awesome and the pictures on Robert Seidel's website have convinced me to download VLC so I can watch the movies.

Also, the guy who did the special effects for The Fountain has a bunch of clips of other work on his website that is really cool.

deeply beautiful psychadelic artwork by a wonderfully talented and ultra friendly lady is available here: www.mindtours.co.uk/gallery.htm

very reasonable prices cos you get a print and not the original. it gets printed onto canvas and looks very much like the real thing anyway.

can't recommend it highly enough.

this is taken from the movie Renegade, or blueberry

From about the 1 minute mark until it gets all creepy, it's great. After that for about 5 minutes, if I ever saw any of that on drugs I'd evict myself from my own psyche. At around 7 minutes when it goes back to the fractally shape type stuff, it gets a lot closer to reality for me, especially with the mandala-type visuals. Still pretty Hollywood though. It's hard to find good approximations of visuals. You have to wonder if just not enough CGI artists have done drugs, or if the experience is hard to recapture when sober, or if they're just held hostage to what uneducated people seem to expect hallucinations to be.

John Safran vs God - Church of Peyote

This is an Australian show that was on a while back... I found this part of the episode very interesting and pretty funny - he makes peyote tea, and road tests the peyote religion.

There is a guy shown from the Church who, despite being highly likeable, to me has clearly taken one too many mind benders :p You'll know the guy I mean if you see this clip. But having never taken psychedelics I can't really say (a san pedro trip is first on my list, actually), so I'd be interested to hear what people with experience say about him - has he gone crazy? Enjoy:

I reckon he's just kinda fucking with John Safran. He was soft, he should drunk the peyote quicker. Of course nothing is going to happen if you take that long to consume the drink....BTW, Safran is a twit IMO ;).

So, this is more of a book recommendation than media, but I didn't want to start a new thread about it.

I highly encourage anyone and everyone to check out the book "Nature and the Human Soul: Cultivating Wholeness and Community in a Fragmented World" by Bill Plotkin. It is a rare gem.

This book is a transformative trip in itself. The author has 30+ years experience as a depth psychologist and deep wilderness guide. Unparalleled insight into self-actualization through "Soulcraft" and how we can make the shift from egocentric society to an "eco/soulcentric" one.

This is not new-age fluff, it is deep and raw and powerful, useful for both those of us who have done their homework, and those who are just opening their eyes.

To be honest I prefer books to visual art forms. No matter how accurate the visual representations are I feel they never quite hit home on an emotional level & that makes the difference between my visuals & their "created visuals"

Whereas with the written word you can infer & then transpose to your own liking/understanding. That's not to say these videos are without merit, because they aren't, & people went to some trouble to create them, I appreciate that, but I think despite the similarities & common themes it lacks that deeply personal bit - the psychological emotive interpretation, the thing that makes it "yours" - available from all good bookstores ;)

I think I shall request that book as a gift in time for santypanties yuletide party, it sounds very interesting. :)

He drank that juice over 6 or 7 hours.. I'd imagine it wouldn't be that strong of a trip since he dosed so slowly.

Sounds interesting. Thanks :D
I'll be sure to check it out tonight.

edit - I enjoyed that very much.

i downloaded the dvd off a torrent network of that shortly after it came out... took forever but it was definitely worth the wait as it has become one of my favorite documentaries of all time. anyone interested in altered states of consciousness (should be everyone on this forum) will enjoy watching this. anyway thanks for sharing ghost!

Hey everyone. (huiui first post)

I found this screensaver pretty trippy. Best thing about it is you can let it run as your wallpaper (with transparent font background, not like vitaldekstop). Pretty old but opensource now. Maybe there'll be some development soon.
