To The OP, I know you must feel fella.
What you explained sounded a hell of a lot like my teen's.
I'd smoke, and still do, to avoid boredom, earlier on it really worked, I sure as hell never got bored while baked, however, as my tolerance began to build up, and my lack of income became a problem, I constantly reminded myself that I simply couldn't afford to develop a daily habit, however, cannabis for me, was more of a sleep aid than a recreational drug.
The first step I took, was to only smoke from around 23:00 onwards, reducing, drastically the amount of bud I'd used daily, whilst still having the privilege of a great/early nights sleep.
I'd then start to look forward to my smoke at night more than, say if i got up and smoked non stop.
If you like smoking then I wouldn't say aiming to quit this early on in your life FOREVER is a realistic or even necessary? Just my opinion anyway, I'd run a mile from a commitment like that.
Also know what you mean about parents leaving the house for a while, I used to feel like I'd be missing a great chance, and so HAD to get baked.
I'd just say, take a step back, evaluate your life properly, see where your going, if it's the right way, and whether bud might hinder your prospects.
PS. When i started to build up tolerance, the hobby i developed was learning the guitar, sure, I'd learn it baked and forget most of it, but if your into music, I'd definitely recommend learning the guitar for some of your smoke ups.
You don't need a girlfriend, but socialising is a must. I did once get to the point where I would rather stay in and smoke, even if there was a free night out going, this was probably a result of being quite unlucky with unprovoked violence and or muggings in the recent past personally, combined with a farley ferocious smoking habit, I'd often find it a struggle to get myself into town, but you make an effort, have a good time, don't drink too much of that crap, and I'm sure you'll meet plenty of girls, and start to enjoy life again.
The general key being here...moderation
