2g/week? he must be running the tiniest op just for a few hits for personal use. Last time I had a gram of DMT base, it was all toked and gone in a matter of a couple of days!
And 300 quid a gram? I'd have been tempted to slap him sideways just for the sheer cheek of trying to rip me off that badly.
He was evidently just BSing the reporter.
For 300 quid, I am quite certain I could without too much trouble, starting from indole, or even from tryptophan, knock out a decently sized pile of DMT, at LEAST 100g, probably significantly more, given that much starting funds to play with. Decarboxylation of cheap tryptophan, bought in bulk using a high-boiling solvent mixed with some cyclohexene, followed by simple and easy dimethylation using methyl iodide, dimethyl sulfate probably would do just as well, but its really pretty heinously toxic, nasty stuff that I'd sooner not work with given the choice. MeI does the trick w/tryptamine just as well. And from 5-HTP, could go for 5-MeO-DMT too. And a lot of it, especially if using that 300 quid, I were to make my own methyl iodide using red phos to catalyse the formation of MeI from elemental iodine and methanol. Perhaps shave some off the cost if methyl bromide were to be used instead, as Br is cheaper than I2, although potassium iodide isn't too pricy, and can very easily be made to liberate its iodine using an acid (such as H2SO4) and peroxide.
Going from indole would be more expensive, as it requires forming the glyoxalylamide with oxalyl chloride, and oxalyl chloride is pretty pricy stuff, but from tryptophan or 5-HTP if 5-MeO-DMT is desired can be done on a reasonable budget and without a great deal of
effort.
And 3 minutes? in my experience with it, a DMT breakthrough lasts for longer than that. Its fairly short-lived, true, but not THAT brief.
And DMT has a wonderful afterglow too, that lasts for a while, lovely calm, relaxed, whole-body-turned-squishy&soft feeling. Difficult to compare to any other drug IMO, the afterglow from DMT is sooooooo utterly delightful and euphoric its hard to put into words.
