the sanctimoniousness of a steelers fan - whose team couldn't get past the broncos (the broncos!) in the first round the the playoffs - giving a pats fan shit because the pats lots in the superbowl to the team with the best wr corp in football* is lost on him...

the loss is tough but the giants deserved to win. they played a great game. the patriots have an afc championship in consolation.

alasdair

* see what i did there? :)

Ah poor, poor alas....denial of your team's overrated season must keep you from weeping and realizing the Bellicheat "mystique" is no more. Not to mention that Peyton's little bro owns you. Not only that, 2 of those wins were in the biggest game of the year.

And since you seem to have a Denver fetish, enjoy the latest craze following the big game (because, like you, Brady is jealous of Tebow's popularity):

the Pats do play in an easy division. as a Steelers fan, I would give anything to take a break from playing the Ravens twice (and sometimes thrice! a year), and then also to get to go up against Buffalo, New York Jest, and Miami all year. the AFC North can be just too physical, and it's not any easier now that the Bengals are good again. but... imagine being a Cleveland Browns fan. they're the real losers in this one

It was the right move. If they hadnt done that a couple knees+ a field goal would have ended it.

No1 else mentioning the fact that the giants benefited from taking a 12 men on the field penalty on the final drive?

former - I will agree to disagree with you on this one. in my experiences with football, so much at any time can go wrong - it's advantageous to score that TD at any time the opportunity knocks. scoring a TD should never be looked at as the "wrong" play

latter - damn! yeah, I noticed that and it was kinda strange, because the Giants did benefit due to the seconds on the clock not being put back on??

If it were up to me on that final drive I would have put 15 DB's in, and eaten the 5 yard penalty on every play. They need to change the rules so that too many men on the field puts time back on the clock, especially in the 4th quarter... in the Super Bowl......

The Giants play in a pretty good division with the Eagles who have been good for a while now and Dallas who is always above average and play the Giants tough. The Redskins haven't been a factor in a while, but were a lot better this year and handed the Giants two of their losses.

I agree. You don't want Bradshaw to have a chance to pull a Jerome Bettis v Colts if after he were to have gone down at the 1, the Patriots played real defense trying to hold them to a field goal, and perhaps knocking the ball lose in the process.

Agree 100% with this. The Patriots lost 11 seconds altogether before getting raped for 8 more with that penalty.

The refs did a terrible job managing the clock. Bradshaw scored the TD with 1:01 on the clock but they left it run down to :57. Then Brady got sacked by Tuck and he calls a Timeout on the floor at :41. The refs stopped the clock at :36. Then Brady gets a 1st down and spikes the ball at :19 but they let it run to :17 which eventually leads to the 12 men on the field penalty.

haha, what a great example of the certainly-true NFL truism in that ANYTHING can go wrong

I still am thankful that Big Ben made that touchdown-saving tackle against that Defensive Back...

yeah I don't get the whole "Gisele-is-the-finest-woman-ever" belief, either

^ thats probably the worst picture ever taken of her. She is kinda tall for my taste but she definitely attractive.

Yup. And even if they successfully downed it a few times to set up the game winning field goal, that is still a gamble, especially against the team that just won a game due to a missed "chip shot."

So what does everybody think of Gronkowskis dancing video? If I was a young stud tight end (the football kind, that is) that just made it to the super bowl in my second year, and fell just short of winning, I would be partying it up too. Hell, my Tuesday nights are better than his post super bowl party festivities. On the real though, if any sports analysts/commentators actually think that Gronk will get played, paid, or laid any less due to his dancing video being exposed, then they have another thing coming, and should just wait til they see his contract and sex tape in a few years, probably co-starring Gisele.

I really don't care too much about Gronk partying. he's one of the most impressive Tight Ends in the league last year. of course, if I was a Pats fan, I might feel differently

not surprising, considering the heat the Gronker started earlier in this season when he took a picture of him and a porn star, chilling in his room with his shirt on her back

rumor is that your steelers are cutting ole hinesy loose to free up some salary cap, axl.

Ya he's done, quite a career he had though. Not sure if its HoF caliber, but definitely a solid career.

WRs have a hell of a time with the HOF, ask Cris Carter about that...

it's tough to imagine that the Steelers won't restructure the hell out of Hines's contract, which they would no-doubt have to do, since it seems like he is going to drop over to the 4th or 5th WR on the depth chart. in my mind, I always imagined that Hines would retire a Steeler, and then coach the WRs in Pittsburgh until the eventual apocalypse ensues. but it looks like either that scenario isn't going to play out, or it will just have to play out on a more rockier ride

all I can say for sure is that I simply can't imagine the Steelers without Hined Ward. he's been an epitome of class and toughness, and every female Steelers fans favorite player (and now my mom's due to Dancing With the Stars ;))

He'll get in the HoF with little problem. He was never a top tier WR per se but he does have 2 SB wins, he is the all-time Steeler WR leader in receptions (over 2 HoF Steeler WRs) and a SB MVP. CC was a great WR but when you miss championships you dont make the first ballot.

well, Hines Ward is most certainly a HoFer in my mind. it's just that that specific accolade pays a little too much mind to stats

and being too mindful of stats hurts his overall chances at making the HoF, for a couple reasons. Hines Ward got to play, finally, with an efficient, pass-heavy offense during only the twilight years of his career (Tommy Maddox excluded, LOL). there was no modern day marvel to many of the Steelers offenses to which Hines Ward enjoyed employment. for the most part we gave Jerome Bettis the ball up the gut, twice in a row on 1st and 2nd down, then sent Hines up the middle on 3rd if we needed more than 5 yards (but hell, give Jerome back the ball if all we needed were under 5 yards). Hines has good numbers, but when one factors in that he earned them the hard way, over many many years in a rather conservative offense - I do believe they should be worth a little more. but try telling that to the (rather unpredictable and nonsensical) HoF voters

I think Hines Ward should be able to make the HoF on his SB MVP award and two rings alone. Hines was a player who truly redefined the WR position in the NFL. he was voted the NFL's most dirtiest player many times in his career. but I just don't think the NFL was ready for a WR who was quite possibly the hardest hitter on a notoriously hard-hitting team. not only did Hines Ward pick up from where Swann and Stallworth left off, he even expanded on their legacies

here's to you, Hines
