New Orleans Saints Bounty Gate Scandal

maybe somebody else who played football can speak to this, but I found that it is fucking hard to intentionally injure someone in full pads. Maybe with an illegal chop block, but you can't do that to a skill player (except a blocking tight end maybe; that'd be a nasty maneuver)

The hits don't even hurt when you've got all that shit on.

Or, you could do this: FLASHBACK: Charles Martin suplexes Jim Mcmahon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTLlaMY_9PM#t=1m37s

Greg Williams may never coach in the NFL after that tape came out. I feel for him in that he was only saying what has been preached in football forever, but at the same time if he had been warned beforehand by the NFL I cant really feel that bad for him. Luckily the Eagles dont have the problem of hitting too hard, hell they should get bonuses for not tackling hard according to Goodell's vision

I used to be a pretty good ball player back in my day, short stint in college

and yeah, you wear A LOT of pads, but let me tell you, your neck/spine/head is still vulnerable. sports sciences still haven't come up with a way to drastically decimate concussions, and we are JUST NOW realizing the nuerological effects, down the road, that concussions can have. it's all about your form of tackling. if you lead with your head, or target your opponents's head, you can do some SERIOUS damage, still

this brings me back to a memory of my high school football team. I was a decent player, but honestly, my football team was pretty bad. this fact combined with me hitting a growth spurt early, I got to play a bit as an underclassman

I remember, now in hilarious retrospect, how my Coach at the time had me on kick-off return. well, the team we were playing was our rival school and the Place Kicker was also their All-State QB, Punter, Safety, etc - basically their whole fucking team in one. my Coach actually directed me, on the game's first actual play - the other team kicking the ball off to my team - for me to ignore running back to my team's Kick Returner, but to brutally tackle (without wrapping up) the aforementioned All-State Super-Man

what a crazy tactic, eh? I'm sure I was a bit expendable at that time since I was a freshman. but I did give that guy a little what-for. I was too young to really think about how absurd that situation was. now, when I look back I get a sour taste in my mouth - what if I would have hurt him?

needless to say, this Coach didn't stick around very long. the game of football is brutal enough, guys. the last thing we need is this added bullshit on top

Luckily the Eagles dont have the problem of hitting too hard, hell they should get bonuses for not tackling hard according to Goodell's vision

fuckin LOL

you'd be singing a different tune if his players had successfully followed his instructions to kill gore's head?

alasdair

I dont think I would.

Actually, Ted Ginn got re-injured that game. Ended up costing us big time because his backup, Kyle Williams, had an infamously bad game returning kicks.

Wow, saints should just be banned from the league.

Saints GM Loomis was eavesdropping on visiting coaches when they talked into their headsets. I wonder what else they were doing to cheat

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/ ... home-games

This is against state and federal laws not to mention NFL rules

Give Saints death penalty imo

this isn't college, stupid

did the patriots deserve the "death penalty"?

nevermind, don't answer that.

what on earth do you think the league is actually capable of doing, in terms of punishment for things like this, besides what they've already done? are you going to tell the saints that no, they can't play all year next year? fire everyone? disband the franchise? kick the saints out of the league? can you imagine what that would do? it's a socialist organization man. this doesn't just affect the saints, it's everyone. the NFL is the most popular sport in the country. do you think they are dumb enough to pull something like 'the death penalty'? would the league really want to send the message that they are totally willing to destroy a popular franchise? i, for one, think they are smart enough to not do something that could cost them that much money. there would be a goddamned riot.

This explains why they were so good at home, lmao.

Glad the 49ers had the tiebreaker to take home-field advantage vs them in the playoffs last year. I can assume they were eavesdropping on the lions during the first round.

What a bunch of cock-sucking cheaters.

This taints the franchise much more than the bounties in my eyes. Its sad, I used to think they were a great story, being elite after all those shitty years. I hope Brees leaves, he carries that franchise more than any other player in the league currently. They need to lose more draft picks, first rounders this time. Neuter the fuckers.

49ers will pack their shit in this year, im sure.

So I actually just read the article that accused the saints of the spying.

Seems like it happened in the 02-04 seasons. That definitely makes it less important to me than if it had happened during the years when they were good. Also, the saints are denying that it ever happened so its possible that it is untrue. Im sure there will be a government investigation unless the statute of limitations has expired.

it warms my heart to see the aints fail. i hate them so hard. that's all i've really got on the subject.

good to know that you're not even reading what they are accused of before clamoring for beheadings 8)

'cheatriots' from 'patriots' was always a stretch. what are bitter nfl fans going to come up with from 'saints'?

I like "the taints"

Well, this was posted in the bounty scandal thread.....

I think losing draft picks over this is fair if it can be proven, maybe not as harsh as it would be if this had happened last year though. Its not like they were just breaking league rules either, they were breaking federal law.

their name is the Aint's. it's been their name forever. because they are irrelevant faggots.
