Question - say someone who has never, ever, taken opiates tried 0.5 to 0.75 mg of Suboxone. This person, having zero opiate tolerance, felt very euphoric for about 12+ hours. Let's say this happened on a Monday, and immediately this person decided never to do something so stupid ever ever again, and in the processes also decided to quit drinking again (this person is an alcoholic and had just relapsed 'lightly' for a few weeks after 9 months of sobriety)
Anyway, the very next day - Tuesday -this person begs their Dr for help to quit drinking and finally agrees to begin taking a Naltrexone prescription.
Well upon further research, this person discovers the problem of Naltrexone causing major withdrawals when taken too soon after an opiate and becomes very scared to take the new Naltrexone prescription, having made the stupid mistake of trying a small amount Suboxone the day before.
It is now Friday, 5 days later, seeing as how this person had no opiate dependance prior to taking the Suboxone - will Naltrexone still cause major withdraws so many days later? This person really wants to quit drinking again before things get out of control.
I can't find any info online about what would happen from one small ~0.5mg dose of Suboxone, one time only with no tolerance, interacting with Naltrexone. Most articles state to wait 7-14 days after stopping Suboxone to begin Naltrexone, but nearly all Suboxone users have major opiate dependence/tolerance & have been on it for a long time.
Just curious because this person really really wants to start the Naltrexone but is afraid of being severely ill.
