8ft, what's the second pic of?

These amazing flowers outside a university I was walking past. I placed the camera right in the center of the flower.

I try too stay away from cliche flower shots but every now and again you see one that looks original.

We used to have one in our backyard that I swear became demonic or something, it was home to lots of spiders, including several black widows, I'm sure, and the flowers got like a foot long but they became black and white!! It was the weirdest thing, they lost all their color. I had never seen that happen before.
 
Strelitzia reginae, they are really old fashioned and common as. Strelitzia nicolai (Travellers palm) is become really popular lately, but people don't realize how massive they get!
