Last movie you watched?

I've heard people criticize Children of Men for this reason many times, but do you forget that the world you are watching is OUR world? Its not like it was a fantastical universe nothing like our own, in fact, I thought the portrayal of the entire situation was pretty damn accurate to what might actually happen. Just because you see no joy or happiness in the film doesn't mean that these things never existed or can never exist again.

Clive Barker's character's history was unimportant. The pregnant girl's history and character itself was unimportant. IMO it was a great portrayal of what the human race would react like if all hope for the future was lost, but was found again when all was almost lost.
yes i know that these things can never exist or didn't exist, he just did a piss poor job at making me, the viewer (which is important) to care about the characters or his fictional world. There was nothing worth saving. Everyone in that movie would've been better off dead.

Just as in the Heart is Decietful, you see this boy go through all this awfullness, but you never see him smile, play, make a constructive connection to anyone, you see nothing of value to feel bad for him to miss. Sure, that life would be awful.. and things happen like this to kids unfortunately.. and it's fucking horrific, but the movie/story doesn't make you feel that. It makes you feel nothing, at most .. morbid curiosity to keep watching to see who and what is going to hurt him next.

There was a movie -- Mandragora, I think -- that actually does a moderately good job at making you like -- on some level -- the two main characters, even if you like one more than the other. Even the father, who sends one of the characters into the downward spiral, is more likable than anyone in Heart is Deceitful.

Now, I didn't love the main characters, mind; but I did want -- truly want -- the kid to get out of his predicament.

It was even sadder when I remembered that the film was an adaptation of a series of interviews with Prague boy prostitutes/porn 'actors' and was a reconstruction of the things they had said during the interviews. I kept wondering why it seemed like deja vu while watching it...

inland empire... again, but this time not on shrooms. still gave me the heebie-jeebies like no other.

^that pic gives me the heebadie-jeebies!

Last movie I watched was Ghost Rider on DVD. It was horrible. Every time Nic Cage or Wes Bentley opened their mouth, the dialogue was friggen hilarious, but unintentionally so.

lol! cheesy unscary tripe. :p It's no surprise this was nominated for five 2006 Golden Raspberry Awards: Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Nicolas Cage), Worst Screenplay, Worst Remake or Rip-off, and Worst Screen Couple (Nicolas Cage and His Bear Suit).

one of my favorite movies. it was so well done and so interesting. has good humor mixed in as well. nick nolte and alan alda are excellent. john goodman gives a great performance as well. not to mention its based on the book by kurt vonnegut.
