Meds Is it a good idea to use suboxone to get off an uncontrollable kratom addiction?

Geez….they have made just needing a few pain killers a day, become a nightmare.
For all of us.

Anything that actually helps we “can’t have”.

I am glad there are cannabis gummies now,
We didn’t used to have those.
They aren’t illegal.
So far, they have never said anything about those.
heheh…I took one too many yesterday and I zonked out.

I am trying to find the right dosage of those and the lowest dosage of suboxone.
I went from 24 mg to 16 mg and I am better there.
I will hold there for a few weeks and then drop more.

I have been doing a lot of work too.
Took the dog to the groomer.
She hates going in the car, it is ridiculously hard.

I zonked out hard,
I was trying to send an instant message to my friend saying, “I’m falling asleep”….and I didn’t make it.
These gummies are stronger than the others I had.
🤣😂

You have been able to go to Kratom from suboxone @Dsafdg ?
Seemed to function normal eh?
Good to know.
Sorry, you keep relapsing,
I cannot recommend the suboxone.
Have you tried cannabis?
Hugs to you.

Yeah got to be careful with those gummies 😂. Nice thing about them though is too many will just cause sleepiness and insatiable hunger. Some may get anxiety.

There are many anecdotal reports of people going from suboxone to kratom successfully. Your mileage may very of course but many have done it. Suboxone is actually the closest opioid we have to kratom although stronger.

Just make sure you’re not buying smoke shop kratom. I suggest ordering online from a quality small batch vendor and get a variety of strains so you can see which works best for you. Just my 2 cents.

And also you have to experiment with the dosages to what works best for you. Idk how experienced you are with kratom but always start small even if you are experienced and when it’s a new batch/strain

yeah. Thank you.

I am feeling much better since lowering the dose of suboxone.
It is a lot better now.
Want to lower it more.
It may not have that “dopamine block” feel at lower dosages.
I think that is what they are talking about.
They say “Less is more” about suboxone all the time.

Do you guys think it is any progress from morphine?

Please say yes.
oh my gosh…the situations we get into….
I am trying.
❤️🙏

Well, buprenorphine is stronger than morphine is my understanding. And the research is there I’m just too lazy to pull up exact numbers right now.

However, the cravings are less intense than morphine use because well it’s longer lasting for one. So in the sense of better for you functional wise - yes. Better for you to get stable with and recovery wise sure. But I’m just not a fan but it does work for quite alot of people who would be strung out on fent or dead by now.

I dislike it when they put someone on heavy long term suboxone maintenance though z they’re just getting them dependent,

I am a firm believer in it being used as a tool either for chronic pain patients or short term opiate addiction treatment. I still believe kratom is a better alternative both for pain and maintenance but WTH do I know? I’m no doctor. A honest And informed doctor could tell you better but I just don’t think there’s many of them out there who are honest AND knowledgeable at the same time. A lot of them have knowledge but it’s where they get their knowledge from that bothers me. Most take a short class on prescribing buprenorphine and that’s it. Issue is these classes are teaching them to use incredibly high doses and for long term even for lifetimes.

But yeah if you are down to a low dose just keep it that way unless you can even go lower. Less is definitely more with both suboxone and kratom. Proud of you:)

Absolutely, it’s weird bc I’ve never met you so ofc I don’t know you, anyways the lady that was sharing her script with me just switched drs and they wanted her to provide all her current prescriptions- she’s also a chronic pain patient and is on a ton of different meds and the new dr said “I’m not going to prescribe you paid meds” she was livid, because she didn’t even ask nor need them from her. Drs are so terrified of getting in trouble now, that they’re not doing their jobs & managing people’s pain like they should be. I said all that to say, I was telling her about you and how difficult of a time you’ve been having since losing your old dr. I truly feel so bad for you, but I love your positive attitude! I really hope you start to get some relief soon 💕

To answer your question, I believe I went straight from pharma oxy to kratom. I maintained on kratom (just the regular powder) for almost a year! I felt normal, the only downside is the constant rollercoaster of having to dose throughout the day. I tried it again a couple days ago when I posted here, and while I wasn’t in intense withdrawal the gi issues caused me to go back to my doc.

I got a promotion and started at a new store at work & promised myself I would quit using so I’ve been taking my subs again- but tbh I’ve pretty much always taken low dose sub. Most days I take 1-2 mg, the first days- week when getting back on I may take 4mg but I usuallly go lower because people say you get better effects and something about norbupe at lower doses and high doses killing the analgesic effects? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. The first week is usually pretty uncomfortable but I maintained almost a year in subs before too? I believe I was at 4-8mg that time. Just can’t seem to get it this time.

As for what I would try if I were in your shoes, there’s 2 different extremes LOL the first is to try to go 3-4 days with no bupe, you should be feeling pretty rough by then- then try taking some kratom (a teaspoon is roughly 3g) I would start there with a red strain, then take more in an hour if it hadn’t alleviated some wd.. and keep dosing until you feel better. You may need higher doses the first couple days but after you stabilize I would try to stick to 3 tsp 3x a day max. I know that may not be feasible since you are actually dealing with debilitating pain~ so this method may work better- slowly taper the sub down and when you get below 8mg start substituting the kratom in. the opioid type effects will probably be blocked at that dose of bupe but kratom has a TON of different alkaloids that can help in other ways. Continue to go down on the bupe while maintaining the kratom until you’re ready to fully jump off bupe. This is how I’ve done it in the past~ but it could also happen that when you get lower on bupe it helps more too?

I’m not a doctor so I can’t say for sure if it would work for you, I just know from personal experience that high doses of sub make me feel pretty bad as well. I will say I had a rough week or 2 coming off kratom as well though, it’s addictive and can cause dependency but my main concern is you feeling well enough to function. As far as morphine goes, I’ve always found it to be rather weak (I was taking the time released ones though, people say they suck lol) and in wd the subs helped me more than the morphine did. But everyone is different & your body was dependent on the morphine for so long that ymmv. Just keep us updating and maintain your positive outlook and you’ll be in my thoughts! *hugs*

Awwww….Thank you so much.
Love you. ❤️

I appreciate the assistance. Sorry that I didn’t make it back here until now.
It has been hectic.

I have felt much better with a lower dosage of suboxone.
Lowering the dose down was what I needed to do.

It is hell trying to manage this condition with what I have available to me now.
The doctors are not doing their jobs. In fact, it seems like they have been bought and paid for.
They only do what they are told and not what evidence shows and or patient in unacceptable condition says.
Not what they know to be right within their own hearts.
It seems very few people have mercy and compassion in them!
Pain can get so much worse than I ever imagined.
Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers.
I worry about the others like me also. OMG!
The suffering they are putting people through, needlessly is nonsense and ridiculous.

The good news, is that I am showing some improvement on a lower dosage.
I am eating (way less) but I am not losing too much weight anymore.
I’m sleeping pretty good too. Some bad night sweats and hot - cold flashes, but better.
I am noticing that I am becoming interested in things again.
Like, I have been cleaning, organizing, decorating. Cooking.
I have been reading again too. I love to read and used to enjoy that so much.
I haven’t been able to hold my attention on a book like I can now, in a very long time.

I have also been shopping. 🤭

I have gotten an entire new wardrobe. One where everything in my closet’s fits me and I choose it.
I learned how to do Internet shopping.
That is a little worrisome because I spent a little $$.
Good Luck happened upon me though.
I am getting enough back in tax’s to pretty much cover it.
Cannot spend too much money when you don’t have it.

It feels nice though, to have a new wardrobe.
I have been working on it since last winter. Getting something nice (on major sale) and stocking up on everything.
I have fun chasing down the items I want and watching them for sale and clearance. 😆
How I love clearance. I tell ya friends.

But, I am taking an interest in my appearance more.
I pit on makeup a lot more often.
I have gone to the salon and had my hair done.
I feel lighter with the haircut (it is lighter, I have long hair) but it feels lighter in a different and good way.
Feels ALIVE!

Clean and healthy is what I am concentrating on.
Cleaning out the spare room and all my closet space, getting rid of some things that had bad memories attached.
That helped. Being organized helps me a lot.
I’m sure the clothing I gave away will reach those whom are in need.
Always feels good to help others.

I’m noticing some changes taking place that I like. 👍
I think those things ^ I mentioned are progress.
What do you guys think?

I cannot afford Kratom all the time. It is nice to know that it does work in an emergency though.
Seeing as how things are improving in ways, I’m going to hold here and wait and see how it goes.
I am having some mild early withdrawal symptoms like sore throat, watery eyes. Etc..
Need to hold here and see how it goes for awhile.
You are right, with me taking morphine for so long……I may have to continue to take a lower dosage.
My brain is used to the morphine. It is probably making things flare up because it wants the morphine.

This is really hard.
You are just left in a “Free Fall” type condition.
Hoping things shape up to be positive.
I am putting that positive effort in to this.
There has to be a way with suboxone and cannabis to manage my pain and debilitating symptoms.
It isn’t ideal by any means. It’s like trying to bake over a matchstick or something.
Like they told the doctors “There is NO helping anyone anymore! That is unacceptable behavior.”
I couldn’t believe how cold blooded my new doctor was to me at my last appointment.
Just a hand on my shoulder would have been the appropriate thing to do. Common decency in fact!
It sucks that they are judging you only on the “drug addict” problem too!
It is infinitely irritating when they seem to know nothing about your health problems even though you have told them and they have records. Or should have records! I provided them with statements, diagnosis, test results from other doctors and specialists.
ALL of whom have said “You have to go to pain management “
She told me “you need to see a neurologist, then get in to pain management “.
I just looked at her and said “yeah, that is what I already did and was doing!”
This “new doctor” isn’t exactly new to me either.
She was the nurse practitioner who filled in and had to do most the work by the end of my other DOCTOR retiring.

We are winging it on a hope and a prayer here friends.
Hope you all are doing well.
I send my love to ya all’s

😘🥰

I’m so happy to hear that you’re feeling better on the suboxone and honestly it’s very motivating for me to stick with it and get clean for good, I always tell myself that people do it all the time~ off harder drugs than what I’ve been doing, if they can do it, I can too. The main thing that makes me give up every single time is the laziness and lethargy, not taking care of myself.. and DEFINITELY not cleaning and organizing. No interest in hobbies and things I used to love doing like playing on my Nintendo switch, I literally just lay around and do nothing but scroll through here & Reddit, and feel sorry for myself.

So to hear that you’re doing all these things and finding joy in things again is AMAZING. I am so happy for you!! It seems like it’s starting to work, and can only get better from here for you. I agree, if you’re starting to feel better on the sub it would be crazy to switch to kratom & like you said, it’s a bit more expensive too. Maybe you could try it occasionally for breakthrough pain on really bad pain days? But it sounds like the sub is finally starting to work better so hopefully one day soon, it’ll be enough & all that you need it to be🤞🏽

I’m SO jealous you were able to get a new wardrobe!! That’s seriously one of the best feelings in the world, I promised myself once I get a full month sober that I’ll do the same thing. My birthday is next weekend and I bought a sewing machine, hoping I can make a hobby out of thrifting and repurposing clothes. I’m definitely a sales girl too!

I wonder is the nurse practitioner you’re seeing is a good fit for you, I know change sucks but maybe you would be happier with a different NP / DR. I only say that because my friend referenced above decided to try a new doctor for one of the issues she’s dealing with, after seeing the same guy for YEARS with no answers, in just TWO weeks the new dr was able to figure out what is wrong with her and come up with a solution. I will say it’s probably unlikely that a newer doctor will be willing to put you back on your old meds, just because of how scared they are to *actually* treat pain patients~ but if your current NP is cold hearted and lacks empathy, you should take your money elsewhere and find somebody that actually cares about their patients.

I’m wishing all the good things in the world for you, and I hope next time you update that you’re feeling even better !! Keep on doing what you’re doing, I’m so proud of you ❤️

I am doing well guys!
Still making progress.
(yeah, the new wardrobe is awesome, makes you feel better, I highly recommend it!😊)

I found a doctor who also suffers with debilitating migraine headaches and she gave me Sumatriptan.
She gave me a pill form and a nose spray, and she is working on getting me injectables.
It is working!
I am no longer living in fear of being completely debilitated wherever…..
I don’t have to take it everyday either, just when I feel one coming on.
It has been a miracle.

Still taking the suboxone. I have adjusted to it and it keeps me out of withdrawal hell. It does help a little with the chronic pain also.
Gabapentin and cannabis edibles are treating me 👍 good!

I am working on getting my drivers license back and getting myself prepared to be alright without my mom.
She is in her 80’s and I almost lost her last month-this month, she is still recovering from getting sepsis.
I am glad I have been able to care for her.
She has cared for me so much. I tell ya, I have a Great mom.
I have realized that I have got to get it together so that I will be alright without her. 😩

I hope you all are doing well.
Don’t give up everyone.
Keep trying.
If I can come this far, you can too and it is so much better. Not being sick everyday!
LIFE is calling my name and I have a lot of time to make up for.
Love you all!
❤️ P.O.
