Irresponsible closure of CEP thread

Yes, just through different eyes.
Indeed.

I avoid the forum because I see it as overrun by far-right conspiracy theorists now. And now it's two camps; the irrational and the rational... whichever you think that may be.

I'm just here to talk about drugs and movies man. Tired of politics.

Far-right? I have not met single far-righter in BL.
You need to look much closer man. Conspiracy theorists? Yeah, maybe.
But far-right term is used way too often and it loses its meaning when used like that. Everyone is far-right, if you don't agree with certain agendas.

^I'll agree with the above that maybe far-right is too strong a term, although, it's relative, I think. We don't get too many far righters in the world nowadays except actual neo-Nazis.

But relative to the secular leftism that I would argue is more conducive to a bright future for humanity than the pseudo-right "maybe Trump isn't so bad", "maybe everyone shouldn't be so offended about trans-bashing", "maybe Brexit is understandable", "ALL LIVES MATTER!", kind of stuff that we do see more often than actual promotion of lynching people of a certain race (not that all of those things are explicitly right wing - or even that they should all be dismissed out of hand - just that they are correlated with the far right more than the far left). I mean, you don't think JGrimez is "far" right?

"Far right" and "Far left" nowadays have both become ways to simply dismiss the opposite political camp depending where you sit on the political spectrum, I mean, I've seen Jeremy Corbyn described as far left... and "left wing media bias" is thrown around probably as often as "right wing media bias" despite the financial evidence that points pretty clearly to which bias is more accurate.

Same as socialism and fascism in fact. In fact the entire lexicon of political discussion is so loaded and polarising now that most of it has become as useless to make any real point as the words "woman", "sex" and "gender" have become useless when discussing the lunacy in transgender issues, their meaning has become so distorted that it's impossible to use them in any objective discussion. I think it should be possible still to interpret from context what someone means in most cases however... for example, JGrimez is not an actual Nazi like Hitler. But JGrimez and trolls like them do lean CEP towards being "far right", even if not quite as far right as Hitler or Himmler back in their day (sorry to single you out JGrimez, it's just that you're the main poster I think of when I try to think of examples to illustrate my point here, you're not the only one of course).

I'll say again I think CEP is actually just full of contrarian trolls who are more interested in stirring up conflict that in any honest discussion.

That being the case - "Far right" is a more applicable term than many others, as evidenced by the preferential filtering of right wing views by various AI algorithms aimed at keeping social media platforms civil, Twitter being the most well known example of this.

They were roundly criticised by the right for their left wing bias of course, and as such have had to make a deliberate effort to account for the fact that right wing views are often intrinsically more offensive and not conducive to civil discourse. It's not OK to just state this outright of course though, the issue is that tech industries have a left wing bias which has time and time again made it into automatic filtering mechanisms of course. It couldn't be that the right and left are just not equivalent when it comes to their propensity for inducing offence, conflict and division, oh no... ;)

This does seem like a strange place to talk about politics.

I'd go one step further and say politics are a strange thing to talk about in general.

Most people are so entrenched in their positions that discussions are generally circular and fruitless, resulting in only aggravation and irritation.

I'm closing this now as it is drifting off topic. Admin and other sr. staff have expressed their opinions. @JGrimez , please feel free to stay in touch through messaging if you feel this issue hasn't been resolved.
