Half Ounce of Pot Gets Louisiana Man Twenty Years Hard Labor

These people tend to have some kind of moral superiority complex based on amalgamation of a perversion of the teachings of Jesus and some sort of weird, politically conservative, pseudo-patriotic bullshit that:

A: completely contradicts the live and let live, philosophy of universal forgiveness that Jesus taught and...
B: completely contradicts the philosophy of personal liberty that the US was founded on

Good post, especially this part.
Really liked it.

Breakin' rocks in the hot sun
I fought the law and the law won

:(

@BlueHues, great post.

The article won't load, but I guess he was black?

Yeah, it was a great post BlueHues. Of course, as long as any concept of good and evil exists (not that morals are a bad thing), people will want to out-do each other; we're just competitive beings in that way. No religion, ideology, political system, or moral code can survive the human ego without becoming corrupted in some way imho

When will America wake up and realize that drugs aren't the problem, and never were? The problem, as I see it, is that we are inundated with self-righteous dickheads who want us all to be like good little sheep and follow the program. Well fuck you, dickheads, and fuck your program! :!

This story, like so many others, makes me sick.

Yeah esp when a lot of these douchebags are the biggest hypocrites in the country selling the whole do i say not as i do. Drinking a few scothes at home til "relaxed" maybe some painkillers and sedatives and sleeping pills. Wife stays at home popping stims drinking wine and taking xanax. Kids are prob like fuck you dad! Out doing rcs smoking weed, getting into pills in the house, playing medicine cabinet archeologist, moving to heroin then dad or mom use their political influence to get their son or daughter off the hook so theres no accountability. Then its oh this isnt just a poor problem, this is everyones problem, lets be tender with these ppl and pretend we never said lets send them to jail for small poss beefs and keep the standard trend going.

Tho i have to say my favs are when these anti homo uptight white guys get caught with their penis in the butt of some gay male escort with a few bags of crystal around for good measure. Love that one.

What the article conveniently leaves out is the guy had two pills which he did not have a script to!

^^^^^^ I've often thought that exact same thought; I'm not sure why, but the US seems to be very, very conservative especially towards crime. I guess it helps they have such a massive prison system-over here, our prisons are small and very overcrowded, so judges are hesitant to send trivial offenders down.

Saying that, my dream has always been to seen New York....

^The US loves prison sentences, probation, fines. It's a felony to have any drug other than marijuana. In Florida 15 grams of weed is a felony. Then your looking at jail time, lots of probation, and your record is fucked. America even takes away financial aid from students that get busted with drugs.

Not to mention they take some of your rights away when you get a felony:

EDIT: If your gonna go to America I recommend any other city. I also recommend not getting caught up in our justice system. But if you have a lot of money you can do whatever you want and just higher a good lawyer if you get caught. America's laws are only for the 99%.

Yeah the fact the Uncle Sam hands out these ridiculous felonies for drugs and then keeps that charge on someones record for life makes me sick.. the system isn't set up to help people.. Its just there to keep people down, exploit them and make money. I hate it really.

The enthusiasm with which law enforcement and prosecutors calculatingly destroy lives is disgusting, this attitude of "no mercy for whoever breaks the law"...It is sickening. It seems as if all of American society is clamping down, punishing and excluding anyone who wants to do anything other than chase after money and live the "American Dream", this country is losing what made it great in the first place...

It's like people are just so angry, mistrustful and out for themselves....they find a "mate", have children, bury themselves in debt to won things they don't actually need and raise their children to do the same thing. The world is already overpopulated, I just don't see what point this serves. The US is a completely different place than it even was 10 years ago in my opinion, a country that's rapidly losing it's soul.

20 years hard labor for an ounce of green?
You've gotta be kidding me. The judge who sentenced the man needs to be taken out back and shot up by a firing squad immediately.

^ Shot by a firing squad for following the law?
You've gotta be kidding me. The person who thus sentenced the judge needs to be taken out back and tickled until they piss their pants immediately. ;)

(I don't really wish this on you, JunkieDays - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy - but wanted to be silly but also to try to re-direct your anger towards the law itself, not a judge who simply follows it. )

Unless the judge had no choice but to sentence this dude to twenty years he is still a piece of shit, I don't know that I would support his death but I wouldn't feel bad about some pretty bad shit happening to him, if he had discretion that is. Mandatory minimums are bullshit and you can't really blame a judge for following them but aside from that I think it is fair enough to blame a judge for the sentence they hand out really.

I haven't looked, but surely 20 years can't be the minimum in LA for a half ounce.
