This movie is juvenile and boring. Not shocking.
well, yeah! i was 17, still vengeful and hateful towards men after a high school career full of stories of sexual abuse of my friends at the hands of teachers, therapists, boyfriends, whatever. i projected myself on to her and enjoyed her rage and revenge. and you're right, ellen page showed no doubt, she was so certain, she was perfectly adolescent, when you need your friends so bad you sleep in their beds and talk to them till 5am on the phone. teenage girls are frightening in what they can accomplish when they want to -- they don't have the feelings a grown woman does to slow them down. after 'hard candy' my class was ablaze. i mean, you could see it in everyone's faces. everyone KNEW someone like that, and they wished they could play her part. do i know what it's like to be tortured by the secret police? not really, no. can't even fathom. do i know what it's like to be taken advantage of by a man?
oh yes.
this is actually one of my favourite movies.
