Bruno was the least funny of his Ali G characters. SBC is a great character actor but I don't get much out of watching him trick people into embarassing themselves.

I think I'll save my money for something else.

^ I think you're missing something if you don't go see this. I didn't particularly love Bruno in Ali G either.

I was the asshole in the back of the theater laughing too loud through the whole movie. I had a great time watching it. I'm not going to make any subjective comparisons to any other comedians or characters, but it was the funniest thing that I saw that day which was enough for me.

ok, i get it. the average guy doesn't feel comfortable with male genitalia being shoved in their face. is this fact funny enough to carry an 82 minute movie?

it was terrible. i literally kept one eye on my watch the entire time and that minute hand would not move.

its so surprising to me that most people in the theater seemed to enjoy it.

i'm not saying i didn't laugh a few times, but honestly you could have made a 20 minute short and left out the other 100 minutes of repetitive shock comedy.

the thing is i actually think cohen is clever and witty, and i can't blame him for going for the definite pay check. the theater was packed. :/

+1

I didn't really enjoy it too much. This kind of humor has never been my cup of tea, so yeah.

Not that I'm uptight. I can enjoy a swinging dick as much as the next guy . . .

wait wat

I mean, er, I can enjoy these kind of jokes as much as the next guy, but too much of it gets stale and predictable. If the movie had been 30 mins then yeah, good stuff.

Otherwise, bleh. :|

I've kinda grown up on Sacha Baren Cohen (since my teens anyway), went to see this the other day at the cinema and thought it was great.

I was stoned admittedly but I couldn't get enough of it. I almost want to watch it again :|

I just watched half of this. I had to stop it for something and then I never really got back to it.

I find it kinda embarrasing, kinda sketchy, kinda meh.

I liked the Bruno on TV. This one? Not so much. A lot of it isn't that funny.

Two moments:

At the beginning, when he shows what he does with his boytoy at home? I'm like slackjawed going W. T. F. and literally facepalming.

And the best moment: How he was chased down the street by Jews in Jerusalem. That was the only part I found GOOD :D. Maybe I'll finish it tonight.

For now, I give it a 2/5.

As with some scenes in Borat, but much more so, I had a hard time actually believing a lot of the scenes in Bruno weren't staged. At the very least, I'd have to say Sacha Baron Cohen isn't the undisputed world champion of 'catching people off guard and lampooning their reactions' style humor that he might have once been.

I feel like he made a social commentary sort of point in making Borat, that he's simply rehashing in Bruno. I mean hey, I have much love for the art of doing impressions and passing yourself off as someone very unlike who you really are. But in terms of comedic shtick, I can't help but find SBC a bit of a one-trick pony.

Oh wow, I'm so glad i decided to finish it!

The second half is SCORES better than the first. In fact, I think if they were to have started the film from the point where he decided to go straight, I would have found it a very good movie.

Although appalled by the first half, I am nonetheless impressed by the second.

The film officially gets a 3/5 from me :).

he IS a one trick pony, but he does that trick so well :)

I thought this film was terrible!
I did enjoy the part with the pastor with the "power to convert gays", just because it kind of mocked that idiotic mindset.
I liked Borat much better.

Couple of funny moments (swinging/shouting dick, being beaten by a dominatrix with grossly-oversized tits), but it's largely the usual SBC crap. Kinda funny ten years ago when he first started doing it, but it's really time to move on.

No real point to the film other than pointing out that 80% of guys don't like seeing another guy's wang or being around a touchy-feely, assertive homosexual.
