Dihydrocodeine vs Codeine

The Pinewood sugar free brand is sweetened with sorbitol. It gives me the farts, but that's about it.
 
I spent the past month trying to get rid of the ghost of the taste of codeine linctus out of my mouth, like it just kept coming back somehow and nauseating me. Finally it went away and then yesterday I bought a bottle of Sprite :|

DHC syrup would be lovely but probably ruin my life. Stuff fucks me for an entire day, codeine does not

I actually enjoy the taste of codeine linctus. The smell is rank but the taste is pretty good.
 
The Care brand used to taste amazing, then they changed it a few years back and it now tastes pretty toxic.
 
Is that it? I was gonna say I recall actually liking it but recently it's been rank to me. Though the sugar free version made me long for it, arghhckk.
 
I've got the Care brand, new bottles produced late last year. Taste is alright once you get used to it.
 
Ock here was me thinking this was a new thread and then I starting reading through and got sad, so stopped.

DHC still makes me vomit like a pornwhore 8) Codeine and me like each other a lot. I abuse my script generously...that's why I have it ;)



The only other oppie I get on with is opium, but enough said.
 
I honestly don't think there's a single opiate/ioid that doesn't agree with me haha

DHC and codeine are great in a pinch, when I run out of h my go-to remedy is a box of nurofen plus which has 300mg of codeine in it, that usually see's me well, take 300mg for 2 or 3 days to allow all the gear to bugger off my receptors then just stop the codeine n hey presto.. no withdrawal.. at all!

I had the chance to try subutex and spent 24 hours emptying my empty guts :| Horrible stuff ...:\
 
I've never had DHC in my life, I'm in the states so can't get codeine OTC either, which sucks.:p
 
Are those saying codeine linctus tastes bad using the sugar free version? I just had some of that yeah I'm inclined to agree this is absolutely disgusting. The version with sugar, while bad for you, is much much nicer to drink.
 
I think I've only had codeine once and probably never dosed high enough to see what it was capable of.

I've got Dhc just now. I only actually bought it incase I ran into opiate w/ds after using a week of sporadic heroin use. Apparently being fairly new to opiates and not a heavy user this is unlikely. I took 240mg Dhc last night though and find I get no rushes/nod from it like h, however it constipates me much worse :(
 
After experimenting with higher doses of pure DHC, I'm changing my vote. While they're very similar, codeine is too heavy and sedating for my taste. DHC has more of that rushy dopamine euphoria I love about hydro and oxycodone. Codeine is just...blah. Maybe I've used it for too long.

I figure there are two types of opiate users:

1.) Those who crave the euphoria/mood boost, and
2.) Those who crave the nod and physical relaxation. The oblivion-seekers.

I'm definitely in the 1st camp. :)

I know those camps all too well. Sadly (?), I always seemed to be stuck in the later with very little choice in the matter.
I could never find any remote enjoyment in sub-oblivion doses. The oblivion is literally all the fun for me. Almost like a payoff for feeling physically awful before that point: hot, irritable, itchy, flushed, dazed, weak, constipated, nauseated, priapism, retention, the list goes on.
As common sense would dictate such a preference led to my attaining a horrendous addiction to opioids with a predilection for the heavier examples and spiky administration.
 
Doc put me on DHC and Codeine. My pain is manageable and I don’t get mental cravings/addiction so I tend to build up my daily doses and have them at night for fun. I’ve been having huge doses of codeine with little fun effect. But DHC man. In tiny doses it does nothing fun for me but 300mg of it is intense (for me). People say it’s stimmy. But for me it’s relaxing and yeah doesn’t have that harder impact codeine does but the long term effect is loads better. Also on codeine I can get irritated by physics like if something won’t budge or I drop something. I can’t hate with DHC in my system. It helps me feel inspired when depression hits.

I took it a few times, ages ago, and the sorbitol OD makes your digestive tract do all manner of disturbing and violent things.
Hard to enjoy the buzz when you're bloated, stomach gurgling and churning - gas, the runs - hardly a relaxing way to get high 8(

Everyone i know that's taken Rikodeine (Australia's only OTC DHC preparation) seems to say "it's not worth it".

Funny this thread has just come back around because I got sold a brand of codeine linctus that contains sorbitol (Pinewood, first time I've seen it) and it did give me a slightly upset stomach but that's about it really. I'd happily put up with farting for a decent concentration of DHC with no NSAIDs =D
