Consistently GREAT actors/actresses?

Here's a few that have been missed;

Dudes:
Jack Nicholson
John Turturro
Steve Buscemi
Ray Winstone (one of my personal favourites)
Bill Murray
Willem Dafoe
Geoffrey Rush
John Malkovich

Chicks:
Frances McDormand
Scarlett Johansan

And don't forget some of the classic dinosaurs:
Humphrey Bogart
Robert Mitchum
Lauren Bucall

Please - the following should never have been included in this thread:
Antonio Banderas
Tom Hanks
Mel Gibson
Nicole Kidman
Jodie Foster
Julia Roberts

ISSUE NUMBER ONE !

While I do agree that the majority of the actors on your Should Never Be Included list are indeed somewhat overrated, do you not consider Foster's role in Nell to be alongside Charlize's turn in Monster as among the most impressive dramatic performances by women in the past fifteen or so years?

Yes, I do realize that it would not be inconsistent for you to have loved her in Nell and yet find her acting to be inconsistent overall.

</end straw man>

ISSUE NUMBER TWO !

Admittedly, for someone to list Banderas as a "consistently GREAT" actor would be quite a stretch.

That said, I am of the opinion that Banderas' character in Four Rooms, between Rodriguez's (and Tarantino's?) writing and directing, the perfect casting decsion, and Antonio's flawless performance, is, without exception, The Greatest Character In The History Of Cinematic Comedies.

Loved him in Remains of the Day, Bram Stokers Dracula, Nixon, Silence of the Lambs, Howards End, Surviving Picasso, Legends of the Fall....I absolutely adore him in all his work (except Meet Joe Black , which I HATED and that was no fault of his either)
