⫸STICKY⫷ Australian Opiate Withdrawal Maintainance Medication Prescribers

for those of you on suboxone - especially in new zealand - do you get all your doses to take home? or do you have to dose at the pharmacy every day?
just interested in terms of pain management, not having much luck with doctors....
thanks

Maybe But Opiates have always made me feel good, an feel good equals no depression right?? you know why we do it 8)8)8). Frustrating part i know a few oxy here there will just ride me through, but due to being on methadone it's crap ass to get hold of them legally.

opiates dont keep making you happy if you take the same dose for years. even if you were injecting heroin.

you become tolerant, and you gotto raise your dose. Further more methadone is practically the shittest opioid in terms of euphoria from oral administration. This is why no one on MMT whos been on it for like more than a year is getting real euphoria from their dose. Yeah its abit nicer to smoke bud on and shit, benzos are better.

But your maintainence dose dosn't give you euphoria and if your depressed now, gurantee you methadone isnt going to start making you feel euphoric if you're orally dosing it. By time the methadone gets to the brain from oral consumption it's crossed that many membranes all of which absorb some of that methadone into fat cells, reducing the amount that gets to the brain in the end. i dont understand exactly why it dont get u high but keeps u well.

Injected methadone is 100% different, even if i inject half my maintainence dose it produces euphoria ect. The oral route for methadone is fucking horrible for getting high, perfect for maintaining wellness though which is what MMT is for man.

I think you have to just face reality, you aint getting high on methadone man. You been on it 8 years dude come on. You'd be lucky if it gave you a pleasant mood let alone euphoria.

Anyone heard any anecdotal reports of codeine preparations (such N+, P+ etc) now requiring the customer to provide a license so the pharmacy can record details?

A friend of mine was asked for a license the other day. However I bought some P+ on the same day at a different chem and was not asked.

I assume it was due to either the pharmacist that was working that day being extra strict, or maybe that pharmacy sell a lot codeine products and they made the decision to ask for details of customers. Usually a change like this would generate a few news articles but I couldnt find anything other than the articles discussing the changes from a year ago.

it's a pharmacy to pharmacy discretion. some ask for ID, some don't. simple as that.

this was the wrong thread to post this in but you'll know next time:)

Fair enough. Didnt feel it warranted a new thread and couldnt find a recent thread on a related / similar topic.

Guess it really has nothing to do with the topic of this thread either :)

Yeah it is a bit off-topic. The answer is it is up to the discretion of the pharmacist; only pseudoephedrine has a legal requirement for identification.

anyone?

saw the pain specialist today, got the same meds that arent working....asked for some sleeping pills so I can take less pain meds, denied. mad shit.

If it's anything like in Australia you have to build up a foundation of trust before you get any take away doses.

^ That's probably what it will be like, brighton. You usually don't get take aways for a while.

damn, there goes that idea.
my pain changes so much i think daily dosing of bupe would be overdoing it 2/3's of the time

I found you never got take sways of suboxe as it lasts so long you can choose to pick up daily, sever second, or ever 3 day and they just double or triple the dose.

Methadone can get take aways with trust and urine texts although all chemists and clinics vary.

My advise never go on and if you only bupe if u have too.

I found that 3 day does always left me hangin a d hard sleep on last night with bupe.

Does anyone know of any subutex/suboxone prescribers in Newcastle/Central Coast region in NSW? I am having a hell of a time trying to find anyone willing to prescribe it.

Drug and Alcohol Service Intake Number NSW Central Coast: 4394 4880

Not too bad at all, but its shit in the mornings and all day long if I haven't had anything. Low level use, anywhere from minimum 60mg codeine a day (just to get by) up to 50mg Oxy. (I can however do 120mgs Oxy without ODing) Mostly a bottle of Rikodeine 200mls as its easy to get. Lots of CWEs and sporadically Morphine, bupe or whatever else comes around, even though anything rarely does. Really not a bad habit, but still get WDs if I stop. I was thinking that just like with a small benzo habit and tapering with valium (I've done this successfully in the past), I could just get a couple of bupe tabs and do a rapid taper, or even just take a bit of one tab and hope that fixes the issue. What are your thoughts Mr Blonde? Just tough it out perhaps for 3-5 days? It's a bit hard to do as I need to be on my game at work, so I've just taken small amounts of codeine recently to fix the issue, but I am obviously low-key physically addicted and don't want to be like this. Constantly being moody, leg aches (this is the worst), concentration issues and no motivation...then also fluctuating body temperature, anxiety etc.

I don't want to go on a full maintenance program, just try a quick taper. Will any doctor give this a go and assist me?

Just for the record, have also done H and M in the past, but luckily no real access to it now.

Thanks for your help - appreciate it.....feel like a sucker idiot for getting myself physically addicted....should have known better. But it just creeps up on ya...don't it?

I doubt that you will be put on to a clinic or even be able to get a doctor to help you for that low level of a habit, though you may strike out lucky. Personally I would recommend you tape down yourself personally. Find a rate that isn't too fast, and get down to a low level then stop.

If you really want to go to a clinic, there is one at Biala (Roma St, near the major train station and just up from the police HQ) or one at Peel St. You may need to call up first and discuss your situation with them.

Hey does anyone know if Biala does treatment for benzodiazepine dependency? I might give them a call tomorrow and find out.

Ground floor at Biala will treat benzo dependence, but if they believe on assessment that the dependence is too severe to deal with as an outpatient, they'll refer to HADS at Royal Brisbane Hospital for inpatient detox. They may also work with the prescribing GP (if that's the source of the benzo dependence) to arrange longer term reduction if that's appropriate.
