Acne Mega Thread

Drinking plenty of water and eating a balanced diet is probably as important as what products you use on your skin - theres a great company called SebaMed that do a full range of products for sensative / problem skin.

I used to have acne so bad that it left indelible but barely noticeable scars on one cheek.
Then one day I heard of colonics.
I gave it a try, and by golly, no one could understand how I permanently got rid of my acne.
It might sound far-fetched, but it worked for me and hasn't come back. Hey, it's, errm, natural!

Does anyone know anything about light therapy for acne?

Does anyone know anything about light therapy for acne?
Its called
Light Therapy Skin Care System

Any feedbacks?

I want to try it, does it work?

Okayy...this is kinda a health question, and might be better suited in healty living. There is an Acne Mega-thread there. Mods can decide to merge or let it stay separate.

Here are some things Ive come across that are effective, either through reading or personally. I rarely get acne, but have had good results nonetheless.

Keeping Clean: I think this is really important.
- Wash the dirt and oil off your face often (morning, night). I tend to get acne when I don't keep clean.
- Clean towels, bed

Supplements
- Niacin (increased blood flow, rids toxins)
- Fish Oil (anti inflammatory)

Cleansing
- There are a lot of natural anti-septics that you can use that aren't as harsh
- Milk/Honey, Citris Fruits, Etc.

Yes still diet has an importent role if still ur hormones are disturbed . Drink more and more water and try to manage ur stress . yoga if best for keeping u destressed . dont eat fri foods . And consulte with a Good skin care specialist .

So I can't eat foods on Friday? I knew that's what was causing acne!

/end sarcasm

Do you have any "good skin care" specialists that you can recommend? Everyone on the market can claim they are "good".

YEs your Doing fine . i never want u peoples to use medicines for acne . Because i know those are all worthless . when i had acnes i had tried almost everything for get rid of acnes soon . But nothing was working for me . Just eat more vegetables and juices like carrot is really food for skin .

I agree with this post. Of course, make sure it's not concentrated juices. Those aren't going to do you much good.

i always told my girlfriends that my semen was good for acne, and they went along with it. never tried for my self but i guess it worked out.

Yes yes water. Make sure to get the recommended amount a day atleat. Which is alottttt. Ha. Its easier if you keep water bottles around though.

If people living in the wild and rainforest and not have acne, im sure u can do it to lol.

im still fighting this back'ne lol. i really think its my laundry soap.. :/

For skin care i have some simple tips.
1. Drink lot of water.
2. Avoid oily food.
3. Eat fruits daily.
4. Lemon juice is best for skin.
5. Wash your face with coconut oil daily.
6. Use lemon on face is good for skin.
7. Drink green tea daily.

Lemon juice. Internally, not topically. It apparently helps alkalize your body which in turn makes it easier for your body to fight infection, repair its self, etc. It seems like its helping me a lot since I've started, so why not give it a try? I drink a bit (just a good swig/gulp right now, might start taking a shot of it like I did the first couple times) first thing in the morning and then before bed. Be sure you rinse your mouth out so it doesn't damage your teeth. Also pantothenic acid (vit b5), L-lysine, and quercetin (for allergies, but it reduces inflammation and helped my skin) supplements seemed to help as well. Also a good diet is CRUCIAL. It seems to me that the most effective way to treat acne is internally. If your body is functioning well and can effectively fight off the bacteria and heal infections and broken skin then I think you should be good to go.
Edit: Couple other things. Lots of water. Lots. Also green tea. Consider looking into foods and things that support liver function to help flush out toxins. Vitamin E oil is great for the skin, and acne scars. Jojoba oil is a great moisturizer. I wash my face with a gentle natural cleanser and moisturize with a product from the same line. I also often add jojoba oil and have recently started using two products called Sangre de Drago and Recovazon gel.
Check this out for this guy's take on the amazon herbs. But trust me, its a fantastic company with products that really do wonderful things.

far more raw green leafy vegetables in diet
no processed foods, no industrial style produced meat, no chemical additives in any food

I speak from experience....never having had bad acne or anything, but persistent areas around the chin and forehead as a youth, but these are my personal tips to help you out....they worked wonders for me:

  • Use liver-cleansing herbs such as milk thistle, dandelion root, nettle, burdock root and ginger. Consume these daily.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar, applied directly to spots and ingested twice daily is nothing short of miraculous for many ailments, acne included.
  • I make my own face wash with Rice Bran Oil (or Olive), Lavender flowers, Lemon juice, Tea Tree Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar which works well. Not to be used too often.
  • Steam your face by filling the bathroom sink or a basin with boiling hot water. Place head over the sink and drape a towel over your head to keep the steam in. Do this for 5-10 minutes, then rinse face with cold water. Done 2-3 times a week, MAX. Most recommend only twice a week...depends how you react personally.
  • Eat plenty fruit, veg (especially in raw form).
  • Avoid Alcohol and Tobacco.
  • DE-STRESS. I can't stress this enough (thank you very much). Practice meditation for just 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night (gradually working up) and lower your stress levels - again, correlates to hormonal issues inducing acne.
  • Sleep for at least 7 hours a night.

^ nice one! WIll give some of those a try, not that I get acne, but candida-induced spots.

tea tree oil is a decent anti-septic and drying agent. a few drops in water also makes for a nice mouth wash.

Tea tree is great stuff - be careful with it, it's VERY strong.

Lavender oil is good, and witch hazel is excellent.

My skin has never been really bad, but my habits have been. I often used to scratch and pick at sores, and compulsively squeeze pimples. This caused moderate spreading of infections for me. These days I just wont touch my face for those purposes. If I have to "pop" something, I'll get a needle/pin and I'll sterilize it with something like Hydrogen Peroxide or high-percentage rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl). It's worth noting that Ethanol/Isopropyl Alcohol etc. do not kill the spores of fungi, so a combination cleanse can be more effective. Alcohol can really dry your skin out though, so I usually use a bit of Vitamin E later, but if your face is covered in Acne, I wouldn't risk rubbing the Vitamin E (you could spread more?), so maybe dilute it into a spray and apply it lightly. Avoid shaving if you can; until you're on top of the acne/bacteria infestation.

Nice sharing.
I think a raw potato is cheap and brilliant acne natural cure, especially for whiteheads. The vitamin C makes your skin glow, and alkaline in the potato kills the bacteria on your face. Thanks

... Do you rub it on your skin? As silly as that sounds. Or do you mean you eat the raw potato?
