CANNABIS

Buds - Medium-sized nugs, maybe 5 or 6 seeds per 3.5 g, nice smell, mediocre taste, lots of nice red hairs, herb is usually a dark forest green color, poorly trimmed, a little on the dry side, lower-to-upper-middle-grade buds. Almost always indica / mostly indica with a nice and relaxing high. Differences in pricing usually has to do with the dealer, not the quality of the herb... the mids dealers usually have the same herb.

Buds - Large nugs (anywhere from smaller 2 inch buds to massive half-oz buds) or large nugs broken into ~0.25 g mininugs, never any seeds, great smell, tastes like vegetable candy, lots of hairs, the herb itself is usually less dark than the above-mentioned mids - way brighter and usually more neon, very well trimmed, nice and sticky, perfect moistness (not bone-dry, but also nowhere close to waterlogged). More sativa than indica with an extremely well-balanced high. Strains seen recently include: Island Sweet Skunk, Northern Lights, OG Kush, Granddaddy Purple, Mango God Bud. Different prices reflect the bombness of the herb.

LSD - Quite a bit (perhaps up to 2/5) of the "acid" that goes around is annoyingly (and expensively!) weak; sometimes even completely devoid of any psychoactive substance . However, potent hits go around every now and then.

Psilocybin-containing mushrooms - 3.5 g of the average potency shrooms = 1 g of the potent as fuck shrooms.

Heroin - Quality is almost always just meh. Occasionally, it's really good or complete shit. And almost always lacking 10% of expected mass. One eighth of an ounce apparently has a mass of 3 g (as opposed to 3.5 g) when one is working with heroin? This is cut tar, suitable for insufflation or injection.
1/3 g (usually weighs in just a bit under .3 g) = $20
.5 g (usually weighs in just a bit under .5 g but more than .4) = $30
1 g (usually weighs in at .9 g) = $60
3 g (usually weighs in at 2.7 g) = $170

Cocaine - The worst "cocaine" around is more likely to be amphetamine + lidocaine or some crap like that. The best blowcaine melts before it hits the back of your nasal cavity and could be used to power a kerosene lamp (kerosene is used as a water-miscible solvent in the processing of coca into cocaine... coke that reeks of kerosene / has residual kerosene in it is usually less steps away from its source in terms of cutting and repackaging).

High Quality (off the rock) £60 ($120 US) a gram. Virtually pure.

MDMA/MDA powder - £50 ($100 US) a gram. Virtually pure.

'Ecstasy' in pill form - 50p ($1 US) to £3.50 ($7 US) a pill. Mostly of very low quality, with widespread piperazine adulteration.

Weed - occasional, mediocre hash - £15/$30 an 1/8th, £90/$180 an ounce.

'skunk' - often contaminated with glass/sand - £25/$50 an 1/8th, £140-160 an ounce.

Weed quality has declined for many users in the past few years, after a crackdown on hydroponic operations in late 2006. The market has yet to fully recover.

Speed and black market psychedelics seem to be specialist markets these days, with LSD hard to find. Benzos are a street thing, or occasionally sold/given free with coke, for a pound or two a tablet. There are periodic predictions of a crystal meth epidemic, but it never seems to materialise. The legal highs market is increasingly sophisticated, and beginning to compete well with black market X.
