Punk Fuckin Rock

Punk sounds pretty dead to me. The amount of good punk music that came out of the last decade is atrocious.

^Time Again and Static Thought come to mind as good bands of the last decade.

the Dead Milkmen are the shit for sure. cannot stop listening to "sri lanka sex hotel". there is a milkmen cover band from Georgia call the Deceased Lactate Product Delivery Personnel. I swear to god they are the next best thing to the milkmen. Check out their version of sri lanka on youtube

Garage Punk>>>Punk Rock
Check out Jay Reatard, Black Lips, Nobunny, Ty Segall and so on...

punk is great and so is post punk but modern genres have evolved and electronic musics the only thing progressing besides indie, most modern indie sucks unless its psychadelic or glitchy or does anything interesting, none of this rich white hipster shit

its all about the punk rock, i hardly listen to anything else.
nofx, a global threat, paint it black, dk, germs, gg allin, leftover crack/choking v/indk/morning glory, nausea, blatz, distillers, transplants, lars and the bastards, good riddance, against me, i could go forever. short music for short people is the best compilation i have ever listened to.

but where's the ska appreciation thread at?!

^yea I wanted to go see them when they came to NYC but that shits already sold out

I used to be totally into punk, active in the local scene, etc. I'm got less and less into it as I got more and more into psychedelics, but I still love punk. I still go to shows sometimes, but not as much. Crack Rock Steady anyone? Crass? Flux of Pink Indians? Conflict? Old school anarcho-punk and peace punk is the shit. Also Morning Glory is a bad ass band, and Choking Victim was great too. I can't really get into Star Fucking Hipsters unfortunatly. Also pop punk sucks and GG Allin sucked too (not to mention he was a complete piece of shit in every way imaginable).

yo any csquat band is just amazing. I actually had to oppurtunity to play there and I can say that without a doubt it was the funnest night of my life.

NYC fucking hardcore.
And FUCK tough guy hardcore!!!

edit ~ lol @ sublime being 'punk'.

A lot of my faves already got mentioned somewhere up this thread, but I'm a sucker for 90s punk and ska.

Give up the ghost and perhaps Quicksand were pretty badass while they were around..

I don't really know if it would totally qualify as punk but I'm also a sucker for old school emo type of bands like braid and joan of arc.. before the whole media frenzy/fashion/crabcore sorta crap started exploding all over the place like a sewage tunnel full of diarrhea.

Slightly sad to think about but I'm pretty sure punk, hardcore, emo, and even pop punk, etc. won't ever have the same type of glory to it anymore.

Indie rock still seems to have some hope left to it though, I can definitely get down with some post-punk revival sorta crap if it's got the right feel to it.

I would honestly hate to sound elitist, but I think before all this myspace music sorta stuff made shit too accesible, and all you had was mp3.com, it would filter out a lot of the wrong sorta people from figuring out where all the local shows were going on. Things in general tend to have a higher quality when it's confined to a small, tight-knit sorta community.

The warped tour is a good reflection of this..
