it's not a bad job, honestly. i hate it but sometimes we get to do cool shit. i got to pet a penguin earlier this year.

funnily enough, i barely read. but today i checked out love in the time of cholera by gabriel garcia marquez. i read it once before and it's probably my favorite book. also kinda currently "reading" marcus aurelius (meditations) and william h gass (the tunnel).

He is pretty cool.. I got to meet and talk with Gabriel Garcia Marquez and have a signed copy of One Hundred Years (it's just a paper back.. I was poor at the time) . I was taking a 20th century lit course so we got to hang out with him after his gig. Yeah, he came off amazing and so admirable imho.

I was just reading Jim Harrison and I think he repeatedly brought up Love in the Time of Cholera.. That is on my short list, as I have not read it yet. Marcus Aurelius is one of my Heroes and I pretty much have meditations memorized.

I have never heard of Gass.. but based off what you posted Ill will be checking him out directly.
 
Gotta go into work today. My town is having our annual Oktoberfest celebration 🎉 (it's a German settlement), and it's likely going to be crammed ass busy so NOT looking forward to that at all :/ I'd rather be partying or something but alas I needs da moneys

If you haven’t read much Fyodor Dostoyevsky I would check out Notes From Underground and Crime and Punishment. Dostoyevsky and Kafka have been two writers or have given me hope when I’ve felt isolated and aimless.

Not much of a rant but I’ve been working and sleeping, saving my money hoping one day I can buy some freedom in this world; something that seems to get more expensive and difficult to attain the older I get.

Its been my experience in America that it’s rarely the Government who takes away your freedom, it’s your nosey, paranoid, ignorant, disrespectful, family and neighbors.

i have read both of those dostoevsky books, back in high school. weird story, I had been wanting to read notes from the underground for a long time. then one day, before one of my orchestra concerts, i found it on a prop bookshelf in my school's auditorium. it felt like a sign from the universe.

if you like that shit, i'd recommend the tunnel by gass. i am nowhere near done but the prose is so good and i hear very dark as it progresses. it took him like 26 years to write. it starts with him wanting to write about his works on germany, but quickly turns into crazy shit and he starts digging a tunnel in his house.

I love Dostoyevsky and have read both of those. I've read The Brothers Karamazov and purchased Demons but haven't read it yet. IIRC Brothers, Crime and Punishment, and Demons are supposed to be a trilogy. I didn't know that until recently. I also like The Double, which is closer to Notes from Underground in length as opposed to huge works like the other 3.

Big props to Kafka as well.
 
Tomorrow's weather for work can eat a dick.. raining with sustained 25mph (40kph) winds gusting up to over 60mph (97kph). Yahh mon thats not the shit.

Pain medication not put through on time again ffs what's wrong with them 😐 spoke to them multiple times about this... need to find a better dr surgery I think and get a fresh start. They treated me better when they only had knowledge of my alcoholism but as soon as I told my GP (on bad advice from a friend) that I had previously taken other things/still take mdma etc they started being extremely stingy...even altho the things I take that could counteract with my meds help me stay sober.

But then the thing that makes me mad about it is the air of disrespect I've been getting and it's like they (Dr, nurse and receptionists) treat me like a total piece of shit and a drug seeker. It does wonders for self-esteem issues and trust in them. It makes me really sad and there is an element of PTSD response that happens within me I think. My ex got the same treatment at his old drs because he had a habit and I witnessed them deliberately being difficult with him when he was trying to get an appointment about his diabetes - it put him off going to Dr as much too and now I know how he felt. Then he ended up with severe braindamage. So they can all kiss my arse.
 
I want to do more good for the world than I am qualified to and I need to stop meddling with the troubles of other beings when I can't even get a grip on my own
