Kickball is a wholly different thing, sir! The salvation of so many young nerds like myself, whose deficiencies in athleticism were so often mistaken for lack of masculinity, and conscripted every recess into some fucking sport. In goddamned California. What kind of heteronormativist brainwashing bullshit was that? The girls didn't have to play sports every damn recess. I don't think they did that in Sparta.

But finally, we noodle-armed or spherical proto-men, could pretend we were playing baseball, with a feel more like softball, only softened more than T-ball, and go kick a ball once and sit back down.
 
Lol, I personally love the brits, might come from the fact that alot of my family is from across the pond, pretty recently in fact.

How come football (soccer) only seems popular with women in the US? Wherreas women's football is seen as a both of joke everywhere else...

Rugby is a man's sport....if you leave with the same amount of teeth and intact bones as you arrived with then you just haven't been trying TBH..

And army rugby is pretty much just combat without rifles....
 
Kickball is neither soccer or football, American or otherwise, neither croquet or bocci ball.

It's an elementary school game when your district only has a soccer ball. It's essentially softball, with a soccer ball. Pitcher does a wild bouncy roll toward homeplate, and you do a wild running charge and kick the fucker into the outfield. Run bases. Does not observe the infield-fly rule or pinch hitting.

Kickball is for eight year-olds FFS. In classes of 30 facing off. And not equipment, a soccer field divided into four. You expect to teach them what cricket is?

You're killing my dream here, man. On that divided field too gopher-holed for actual intermural stuff, I was . . . adequate.
 
That would be helpful, I'm still not sure what cricket is exactly.
 
I do have to give the British credit, despite inflicting things like cricket on 1/6th the world (very briefly)--Their misrule of South Asia inadvertently created my two favorite drinks.

A proper gentleman takes his quinine tonic to fight malaria, might as well dilute it 1:1 with gin (my ratios) to help it go down.

And how do you get beer to the scallies on such a long trip, since the locals are only competent to produce Kingfisher a hundred years later? You concentrate it, with higher alcohol to keep the mold out and reduce weight. Turns out the concentrate is better as is. And the IPA was born, only to get quadruple hipster hopped to death. Now I'm embarrassed to say it.

What? I'm on modshift, I've just been waiting for this thread to die to move it. No hurry.

Non-morphine related reply: tonic water is carbonated with too much sugar to counter the quinine. Which used to be used to prevent malaria in British India. But they still put some quinine in for that awesome, probably carcinogenic or hepatotoxic bitterness I like. It's fitting.

And Scrofula beer is probably not the healthiest. Bitter, too much head, disappointing finish and slightly hallucinogenic. It causes irreversible liver damage.
