Your top 5 "drug movies" & what you watch when you're high...

Humm... so many good ones already listed. I love them all.

The most recent one I've watched that was pretty cool and showcased the insanity that is being in a junkie relationship was an Australian flick called "Candy" with Heath Ledger.
 
^ Candy was soooo good. really got to me in alot of ways most movies like that don't. And gives a lot of insight into the demons of Heath that may have led to his ultimate demise.

It reminded me of many of the relationships I've been in.
 
When I was on drugs these DVDs comforted me in a sadistic way
(1) Trainspotting
(2) Basketball Diaries
(3) Permanent Midnight (very good book)
(4) Christiane F*
(5) Sid and Nancy (and no he did not kill her he was a harmless angel)*
(6) Panic in Needle Park (Pacino is BRILLIANT)*
(7) Candy*
(8 ) American Gangster
(9) Cadillac Records*
(10) Ray

*denotes films that romanticize drug use and drug subculture which is super problematic when you're 15 years old and in love with an 18 year old dope fiend.

Now I am 22, I watch these movies and cringe. Seeing Nancy sucking dick for a bag. Christiane running around the Bahnhof Zoo in her David Bowie glam rock outfits. Helen fucking over Bobby. And Candy losing her mind.

Oh yeah and Dewey Cox just for kicks

I can't believe how many people have said "Requiem for a Dream". Damn that movie is plain sick! How could someone who uses drugs stand to watch the agony and pain. I was grossed out numerous times and I love my drugs, however I have never gone to the needle and maybe that's the difference. ???

Not in that order necesarily. The doors movie is pretty cool as well but I love the doors so that may just be me. That move about those basketball players that turn junkies is a great move as well, I think it's called the basketball diaries or somethibg similar. Also IDK if anyone has seen Dolemite but the fight scenes are SOO bad that it's incredibly trippy, reminded me of some sort of arcade game fighting scene. Seconded. The man has an amazing imagination. I really love movie Paprika too, it's in a similar style but much more psychedelic.

My favorite drug movies encompass the same titles as others, in no particular order
1. Fear and Loathing
2. The Big Lebowski
3. Scanner Darkly
4. Paprika
5. Naked Lunch (and eXistenZ. Honorable mentions to other Cronenburg movies)

All of these are more to watch while on drugs, different substances for each. There's other films I've enjoyed which portray drug use, but those are often less fun to watch wile high.

Nothing beats my self made needle porn when I'm high. I love seeing the spike as it spreads my skin open and hits my vein. I record up close shots and I swear the shit is like porn...
 
when I'm high i mostly watch TV dramas like Mad Men, random documentaries, and indie films. In other words, things that are on Netflix.
