[MUSIC] The 80's thread .... (links only please, no full video screens)

I need more than music , an impending visit from a Female is usually enough . My flat is pretty tidy atm ;)

Happy Mondays - Hallelujah

I think the 80s was a excellent decade for Music . If you take it all in 2 acct. Hip Hop was born ( well mainstream it was ), There was loads of decent indie bands , DJs still played vinyl & Acid Techno came along .

If only somebody could get a time machine, go back to the 80s and prevent by whatever mean necessary the birth of hip hop.

Imagine how more pleasant would be inner city neighbourhoods around the world would be if soul motown music and disco were stll prevalent...we can only dream

Rap and hip-hop stuttered (geddit) to start and indie arrived in late 88/89.

1984 was shit, trust me I was a student and saw many shit bands. Teardrop Explodes were not good however cool Julian is.

I wasn't around to appreciate the 80's, but I am a sucker for the stereotypical 80's aesthetic vibe; I find it easy to appreciate a decade that (according to skinemax and memorex) went in a blur of technicolour visuals, surreal TV adverts and 80s synth soundtracks.

There's a few 80's throwback musicians in the electronic scene who are getting kinda big, like Com Truise and Kavinsky...Check them out if you're into the 80's synth vibe...Com Truise especially; he uses old 80s synths but the way he constructs his songs is unique and sounds fresh. There is definitely an 80's revival happening to some extent...How long before synth-step arrives and ruins everything?
