I can't really blame people there for getting disgusted with their ownership. If you can even call them owners. Closer to criminals.
The fire sales, trying to sign every free agent 2 off seasons ago in a attempt to get people excited and buy ticket packs, then selling everyone off and fielding a minor league team. Stanton's the only reason to watch now.

Loria is more hated right now than Castro here. He made all these pie-in-the-sky promises so he could get the new stadium, which is mostly taxpayer-funded but completely owned by Loria. He made all the promises and then just 4 months into the new stadium, he dismantled the team. He's managed to alienate even his allies.

He's spectacularly unlikable too.

And let's not forget he traded away one of the best players in the history of baseball! Go ahead and compare Cabrera's career stats to Mickey Mantle's.

He's traded away everyone. Cabrera's unreal. So is Stanton. He'll be in St. Louis or LA or Boston once his arb number gets too high.
Loria's tenure in Montreal was pretty impressive, too. His best move was cutting all in game coverage of the team except for French language radio. Asshole.

^Why don't you guys tell "your" Sox to score some fucking runs for Lackey. :).

^ i know. against a 2-hitter through 7 innings. tough to beat.

tb will be in first place tonight unless the red sox can rally in the 9th.

That kid for BMore was filthy. Oh well.
Tampa's gotta cool off sometime. Right?

Jacoby Ellsbury

Jacoby will be a free agent at the end of this season. Do you think the red sox should re-sign him? As a sox fan i hope they bring him back he's always been one of my favorite players to watch and when healthy he's a great player. That being said his durability up to this point in his career has left something to be desired. The sox have what seems a viable replacement for him in Jackie Bradley Jr. but you can't just assume that Bradley Jr. is going to be a great player. So what should the red sox do?

^"When healthy" is the key. He's too prone to injury to give long term huge money to. IMO.
His +30 HR season seems like an anomaly. What you're left with is a 3-3 1/2 tool center fielder that's injury prone.
He's represented by Boras and his clients rarely seem to end up back where they came from.
Some team will look at his flash, his solid defense, his base stealing, and decide he's worth 15 million a season.
I just hope it's not the Red Sox. I like JBJ and I feel like that money and particularly the length of the contract that Ellsbury's going to want is too risky to justify.

Deserves it in my opinion. This whole affair could have been handled so much better by A-rod. What an unlikeable guy.

steroids and baseball go together like pizza and beer and the sooner the world realizes it the better

i may actually watch baseball if those mofos were allowed to juice to their hearts content

I have to apologetically disagree about the loveliness of that Rays stadium. With all of that Florida sunshine and gulf coast at your disposal, why on god's green grasses would you ever play in a dome? The Tigers were able to make this in the post-apocalyptic ruins of Detroit...

Love that place, been there for 4 games in my life total
Comerica Park is the nicest ballpark I have been too and I have been to 5 different parks.

if I wanted to watch a train wreck in progress id go to the Dark Side so unfortunately I don't really watch the Phillies anymore

still think the Pirates are gonna have a meltdown

still don't give a fuck about baseball in the grand scheme of things, been watching MLS more than MLB to be honest

it's the one sport that thinks it doesn't have to catch up with modern times because it's "America's pasttime"

yeah uh... so was lynching people and "relocating" undesirable ethnic groups

times change, either get with it or wonder why the NFL is far and away more entertaining

With A-Rod's ban, is this the apex of MLB and steroids/PED much like once Lance was found out in cycling? Is it truly the ugly little secret that MLB executives and owners have been trying to keep under wraps for a long time? I wouldnt speculate as to a conspiracy but collusion is what it feels more like to me. I have not been a fan of baseball for a very long time and the past 10, 12 years of top players being popped for PEDs and such really made it easy to stay away. Will we now see a clean era emerge.....I just dont know especially given the competitiveness of pro athletes.

Anyway, Yankees are probably better with A-Rod gone because he is a shell of his former greatness. Perhaps this will make those 10 year 200+ million dollar contracts less likely in the future.

again, it would be even better if we just replaced the human players with cyborgs who can pitch at 300mph and hit a home run 900ft. ball parks will have to be so much bigger, accommodating crowds of 250,000 or more.

they'll be sold out every night because the game is, you know, better.

that stadium and back drop looks amazing.

and to answer your query; with tropical climate comes tropical storms and hurricanes. the dome allows shelter from the sometimes horrific weather conditions throughout the baseball season. rain hail or shine baby <3

Yeah. The few people I know that have been describe it as feeling like a warehouse with a baseball field in it.
I do love the frequently empty "Bullpen Party Area" and the live Rays. Exactly what I want out of a ballpark experience.......

Because it's very hot and humid in Florida. Personally I don't mind it, but many people in Florida spend 100% of their lives in climate controlled environments.
