Where Do You Work? - Where Do You Want To Work?

^ No. But my dad did work at Australia Post until a few years ago so I know what it's like. Their staffroom had a pool table and dart board though... How cool is that?

As kids, my Brother, sister and I used to love going there and pushing each other round on these mail trolley things, and all the rubber bands a kid could ever dream of :)

I work three jobs, i work in another chain jean store not dissimilar to the one mentioned earlier located a little futhur west... and thats fairly boring, i work in a busy pub/niteclub, and also in the bar in a local football club, and as these jobs are all casual most of the hours are on the weekend yay for working my entire weekend pffft. Nothing like finishing work at 7 am then having to fold clothes at 10 am. I would love to work in many facets of the music industry , mainly publicity and event production. have to head back to uni methinks. After I find another job to pay for it.

i currently work for the victorian police, undercover team, but have put in an application to the AFP to do work tackling international drug trafficking...

fingers crossed....

^^^ I told you not to let the cat out of the bag until AFTER we had finished cross referencing all our ID checks....pfft

I work for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Tourism NSW as a Visitors Services Advisor. =D $26 an hour to tell people where to go, i love it.

i work at the Healesville Hotel, only restaurant to get a Chef's hat rating in the Yarra Valley from The Age newspaper, TWO YEARS RUNNING. I am an underwater ceramic detailer, and they 'fired' me twice, only to be forced to hire me again when their replacements walked out.
I also work saturday nights at Mt Rael, a nice little restaurant with an awesome view of Healesville.

Dream job? Totally in a video store. Or something similarly 'entertaining'.

Even though if fast food is good money, it's shit hours and I hate my boss. He's a fucken dickhead!

Any chance of me scoring some free confiscated drugs?

Lol. ;)

Muzby: I knew there was a reason I hung out with you.... the police always get the best drugs :D

I'm employed by a Government department doing IT, but I work on various zany schemes to make me rich and comfortable. Most of them end up only being successful enough to be a bit of fun and maybe fund a weekend.... but thats enough for me :)

I work in PR (used to be journalism). The company I work for is Australia's largest eucalyptus oil manufacturer and they also have their own range of various health products, herbal formulas and various other bits and pieces like thermometers and vaporizers.

Basically I spend all day writing bullshit press releases on how X tonic or Y pills can help you feel full of wellbeing and vitality; book ads and manage our advertising budget/schedule and other stuff like write for the website and arrange giveaways on radio/in newspapers etc.

It's a good well paid job but I'm bored out of my brain 99% of the time. It's such a boring, stick-in-the-mud, old fashioned company, there is no fun here AT ALL... in fact I think they've written a 'no fun' clause into our contracts 8)

Ideally, I'd be working as a writer on a magazine such as Good Medicine or Cosmopolitan (heh can't you just see me writing the "200 ways to give a blow-his-head-off-blowjob" articles?). And somewhere with a bit of life and fun. But those jobs are as rare as hen's teeth and I'm not very highly motivated. I can't complain too much, it's pretty cruisy here mostly.

I work at home as a web/graphic designer, and I also do contract computer fixing/training (IT Technician is my official title) in other people's homes/workplaces. I do like it, but it doesn't involve a lot of adult human contact, and I don't like that part.

Ideally, I would like to write for a business/finance publication. But I don't want to do the shitkicker writing, so I'll have to go and become a successful business person in my own right first ;) Can't decide if I want to continue to work for myself, or work in management for someone else.

I'm studying a B.A. majoring in Journalism and a B.Business (Mgmt) to that ^ end, and will do a writing course and an MBA after I finish this stuff. So I'm on the right track, but it's slow going!

I work as a Linux System Admin that basically gets paid to keep things running smoothly. 95% of the time it does so most of my time is spent on IRC/websites/IMs. It's a nice job except the MD isn't the best of people *cough*

Where I'd like to work? Anywhere SLM works <3 :)

I work for a public library- supervising the library and working in Home services. Basically I deal mainly with elderly and disabled people that can't get into the library- I slect whatever books/ info they need an deliver it to them twice a week. It's not mind bending, but its fun and pays very well.

I'm doing a Masters of Law to get into legal research or government policy making- or something along those lines anyways.

My ideal job would be working in the reseacrh library of on of the major law firms, or perhaps the DPP or state cabinet.

I get such a laugh out of it now when people ask me where I work...

'where do you work?'
'have you ever seen those little smart cars with the big ad trailers on the back?'
'oh yeah they are cool'
'I drive one of those'

It's cool and we get really interesting campaigns. We have a contract with Channel 10 (so rove, idol, big bro etc) and we have fun stuff coming up like calvin klein

currently a uni student (finishing IT degree in a couple of weeks -> YAH) & also have a waiting job.

As for future work??? I don't have a clue? Work for some IT consulting firm or something probably, maybe web development - only until I can make enough money to relax a bit :) I'm also considering a TESOL course - I've heard teaching english in south-east asia can be quite an experience.

Ideal job? Anything but telemarketing! It is the worst (although I have a mate who cleans toilets... hee hee poor bastard)

Work in a hospital in IT a design/programming role. It pays well and it throws in a nice salary packaging scheme too.

The only real downside is the location. I want to move back into the big smoke, rural areas stink! Too many feral hippies and right-wing religious conservatives out here!

I work in a video store and i have to quote someone who i spoke with the other nite who called it the "retail nirvana". Basically, my job consists of socialising, putting dvds back on the shelf, listening to my own music and serving customers. On those quiet nites you can even watch a whole movie without interruption.

It's also a good place to pick up. As a job, I'd reccomend it.

I would like to be getting paid to play music but who knows how that will turn out. Shnouzerpuffs promo job sounds dope, i want it!

^ Working in the enviro. department for a mining company would be tough.

A) You're green friends hate you because you are "selling out"

B) The company you work for hates you because you are the enemy, keeping them in check.

Very true...

After 3 years at uni doing a double major in Conservation Biology and Environmental Restoration, I have become disillusioned and jaded about the whole 'save the environment' thing.

I started out in this degree thinking that I could make a real difference to the world... perhaps work for a mining company and make a difference from inside a company... using education and knowledge to protest. But the more I have learnt, the more I have realised that it really isn't very feasible. Mining companies pay you to get the results they want. If you don't come up with the results they want... *shrugs* they can easily find a reason to dismiss you.... there are 3000 other qualified people with similar degrees... they can find somebody else who will take their money and do as they're told.

There also appears to be a lot of corruption within government agencies these days too... I've had tutors and lecturers who were affiliated with various agencies in the past, and left because they could not stand by and let things slip through loop holes because of the dollars involved.

The future seems dim.

I'm a designer, its my hobby as well so i love it!, i also work for myself so really i can do what i want..

i work at SANITY - evil retail rip off chain of music/dvd stores.

empire records is nowhere near what i actually have to put up with at work!!!!

but aside from the fact its still shitty retail, its better than working in fast food and i get to fiend the dance cds :)

i want to be a film director after i finish uni, so hopefully that will all work out, but as far as casual jobs go, if i had a choice i would rather pull cables or something for a tv station than work in retail :)
