Cards Poker (Texas Hold'em)

poker! i forgot about this thread.

i've been having a good month. the wsop circuit came through town and i played in a minor (non-ring) event. it was $135 buy-in and 70 people played. i played great poker for about 6 hours and got to heads-up. we were pretty even so we agreed to chop - i walked with $1900 which is my biggest cash to date.

on saturday night my local casino has a $80 buy-in event with $25 player bounties. i absolutely crushed it. took out 9 people - easily the most bounties i've ever won in a single tournament, and went on to win the tourney, walking with $610:

where my holders and folders at?

i've had a rough couple of weeks but a good couple of days - i cashed 1st and 2nd in back-to-back tournaments on monday and tuesday for $780 in two days.

last night was pretty crazy. format is $125 buy-in with $25 player bounties. starting stack is 12,000 chips. 16 players.

i got nothing for the first hour and made a couple of mistakes to get down to 3000. built that back up to 30,000 over the course of about an hour. we combined to 9-handed for the final table and i made a terrible read and bad call to dump over 80% of my chips. i'm back down to about 5000.

i get that up to about 13000 and the short stack at the table (about 9000) puts in a standard 3x raise pre-flop. everybody folds to me in the big blind and i look down at pocket 99s. i flat which turns out to be exactly the right move :)

the flop comes 997 and i have quads. the guy is the same guy who flopped quad 9999s at the other table about an hour earlier. he laughs at the flop and goes all-in. i snap call, he's done and i pocket his $25 bounty.

i grind it out for the next hour and hit a sick run of cards for about 10 minutes. i got pocket AA and won a nice pot of a guy with AJ. the very next hand i look down at AA again! i raise and get a call. the flop comes JAA and, for second time in an hour or so, i've flopped quads! quad AAAA no less. i bet and get a call. figure he has the jack. i check the turn and he bets. i call. river comes and i hollywood for a bit. i don't want it to check through so i put out a small 1/3 to 1/2 bet. if he didn't think i had the ace through the flop and turn, maybe i get a call. he thinks it through and folds but i'm now up to 80000 chips.

talk about down and up and down and up!

we dispatch the bubble and the guy in 3rd place. heads up lasts about 5 or 6 hands. i shove with A6 off and he calls in the BB with AKs and i'm done. second place and i walk with $430.

oh, and the guy who won was the same guy i played heads-up with on monday so we both went 1st/2nd on back to back nights which is pretty good.

I don't but I like watching. I will beat my friends every time, but to start playing micro stakes etc I'd need to study.
Still, I always loved watching the old school poker programs with Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Esfendiari, Phil Helmuth etc.... that was great

since covid hit and the casinos here closed down, we've been playing a couple of our home games on pokerstars. they have a feature which allows us to set up a private club and play cash ring games or tourneys.

it's definitely not the same as playing in person but it lets us get our poker fix.

casinos here have started to reopen but it's not clear to me how risky it is. i expect that we'll keep playing online for a few more weeks.

9th in big 55 with $ 6.5k up top tonight. Made an icm punt. Was tired tho. Have had a hellish time with poker past 4 years from the highs of winning $200k to the lows of losing nearly $125k back. Need a mental coach
Or something. Or some long lasting relaxant ha! Love and hate poker. My neck is ruined from the grind. I prob need surgery on my neck. Help!!!! 😫😭😢

Im so furious with my game.. rolling top 40 all the time after second break in thousand plus player tournaments and I have gotten cleaned every time in four months fkn pissed.

I was getting schalaked for a bit and have been cleaning up on twenty sit and goes. That was a long bad swing

My sites big winter tournaments start today with a 5G free roll. Main event is 100k. Playing in a few of the events.

Where do you play online @neversickanymore ?

My brother is a big poker player. Mainly casinos. He tried a few online poker sites since the pandemic, but claims they were all scams in one way or the other.

Would totally try a site or two and see what happens with a few hundred or so.

Finally went deep last night.. almost two hours heads up. Only I took 2nd. It’s been a long time and that felt pretty good. Mad flux in the heads up.

online? real or fake money? what was the buy-in and how much did you cash?

alasdair

Fake money?? that made me giggle ali. Real money Online It was a 5000 guarantee, 11$ buy in but I used a promo comp and paid out pretty good but not as much as I wanted as it paid out to top 63 places

you know what i mean... a lot of people can't play for real money online now so they play for 'play' money...

I hate poker. Cashed around $1 million and its nearly or pretty much ruined my life.

Compulsion is a demon.

If you want to succeed you need to have a strong mentality

I would love to have a place near me that I could play at, but the middle of Oregon isn't exactly hopping at the moment.

If your interested in getting good at poker i can help with technical side. Not so good at mental game. But i am winning at nlh 6 max cash games up to 1knl and have over $1 million in cashes at mtts

Im now old and slowly transitioning out of the game. If anyone wants to hit up about theory/solver or exploitative play then just dm me and maybe we can swap discords and skypes.

Gl to all future kids looking for finacial freedom..

I hope you get it as the games online are increasingly becoming harder with solvers and rta use.

Still mtts some $ to be won and live poker will always be soft though ofc getting volume in the latter is impossible to get a decent sample of games

Hey, anyone is a recreational or reg at poker?

I use to bet my poker winnings at sports and even at casino, but try to keep it at less than 20%, cuz i know I suck at sports betting,

The rest of the money is still moving here and there in various rooms, trying to increase the bankroll and find my right place and game type, will be great to be back at MTT +$100 buyin, but I want to inject money to my accounts right now, becouse its insane to grind at poker to get winnings, or play MTT several hours with micro and low buyins, that lead to micro and low winnings, but this is not the moment to put my money at the virtual tables, there are reduced incomes at my business/work the first months of every year. I will focus at least first half of this year to improve my game, so maybe i can play just 2 tables and get nice winnings, instead to grind 8+ SnG tables, thats boring and crazy stuff to my mind sometimes, so rn im not very active at the tables, but anyway i play few games everyday, without a specific goal.

What do you think about the online poker?
