Alpha Dog

Has anyone seen this movie? I just saw it a few days ago, and it's really interesting. It's one of those movies that makes you think about it for a while after you see it. It's based on the true story of Jesse James Hollywood, a young drug dealer from Santa Barbara, CA. If you haven't seen it, you definitely should.

I don't think this belongs in this forum, but I don't really care.

I saw this movie this past Saturday actually, and I can't seem to get it out of my head. It was just...fucked up the way things ended up happening.

Was Johnny Truelove (kid from Girl Next Door) named Jesse James Hollywood in real life or something because I remember my friend telling me about it, yet they never mention that name or they never really show him dealing big amounts. You just know he was dealing and involved.

I thought it was a decent film and it sounds like an interesting story, but I doubt I'd watch it again. :\

Johnny Truelove's real name was Jesse James Hollywood. They had to change all the names and locations because he was still on the run when they were filming. He just got caught down around Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 2005. You can see pictures of all the real people and there's a home video on youtube of JJH from back in 2000, just a few months before everything went down.

just ended up watching this due to absolutely nothing else being on.

didn't have particulary high hopes, but it didnt turn out as that bad.

interesting truth behind it, i suppose thats what gave the movie merit and the acting was pretty decent too.

3/5, i'd say

Alpha dog confused me?

I don't understand every movie review says alpha dog was a serious depiction of real events. Theres not one reviewer who even remotely suggests that such a serious event was depicted in a rather funny manner. I dont know about all of you but I personally was misled by alpha dog the movie. To me it was a funny teen movie which lead to a serious conclusion but even then i was waiting for a punch line?

Like honestly was anyone else confused by the humour of this movie? or have i just been trippin on too much acid?

I thought it was great. The way they explore the group dynamic was cool as I grew up with a similar group of characters and could not help but think about how my ass could of ended up in a similar stupid scenerio.
