Are there places in uk where people aren't so controlled by sjw culture/social media?

Yeah I mean, in all honesty, once you step outside the orbit of tabloid media, social media streams and crank YouTube videos, I don't think anything has changed much in years.

People are in general less homophobic and I think more careful to avoid racial and misogynistic slurs, but that's not exactly an onerous burden is it.

I do think traditional notions of hegemonic masculinity have been changing though, which can probably feel confusing and threatening to guys familiar with former masculine behavioural norms.

But that process isn't new and shifts from generation to generation anyway. Hence the phenomenon of the grumpy old man (and woman) :)

Meh. Bloody young buggers..!!

I mean really, we just need a city for old farts, and more grumpy old man columns in the Telegraph and Grauniad to balance things out.

Oh, and somewhere to dump all the Millennials, Gen X, Y, Z, with their mobiles and apps. Maybe a large lighthouse on Rockall would do? ;)

Jeremy Clarkson for PM... :!

(I had to Google 'Grauniad', that's how out of touch I am :\ )

Yes yes yes! Someone who can relate! Other replies seemed to have been missing the mark and fallen on deaf ears.
maybe they get it fine and just, shock horror, have a different perspective?

Leave us baby boomers out of it - it's these fuckin millennials that are to blame...
you sound like my grandad :) same as it ever was...

Screams of the lgbt snowflake brigade. It really grinds my gears.
it's not a little ironic to me that those who insult others as 'snowflakes' seems just as easily 'triggered' themselves, just by different things.

Whilst I concede that the whole SJW thing is an actual, tangible thing that is often toxic, I think pretty much the same about people getting too deeply into the 'anti-sjw' thing.

As somebody who rarely interacts with the media, I can't really think of any real world reactions where I've actually witnessed this SJW stuff. On the contrary, I have a friend who thinks that it's persuasive and has ruined everything & is an NWO agenda, but then again I'm his only real friend and he rarely interacts with people, so to me it's more a reflection of his own lack of human interaction and negativity than anything else.

Honestly, I think that if you get into this stuff then it can become very focussed online to the point of obsession, and you can tend to think the worlds tumbling down, when it simply isn't.
nicely put.

Being a social justice warrior should be a good thing and I salute the real sjws out there fighting for equality for all.
amen.

You know it's funny listening to my Nan (94) who thinks the world has gone to shit compared to when she was young (ftr: she reads the Express and they tell her what's "real" so...)

Anyway, last time I saw her, she was going on about how healthcare has gone down the pan since her days, and I had to remind her that when she broke her back in 1940 during the war, she couldn't afford proper treatment because she was poor and there was no NHS, so she had to rely on a charity hospital who basically just sent her home with minimal treatment. And just that single factor caused more harm to her than anything else in her life.

People can so easily lose perspective when they leave their rose-tinted goggles on and jabber on about the halcyon days.

Meh! Things were definitely better before we allowed wimmin to be fuckin PM...

(Can't do winky faces anymore because BL is crumbling under pressure from the #metoo movement...)

^ too right mate. You've only gotta look to Boudicca to see what happens when the ladies grab absolute power - all that rape, pillaging and the wholesale destruction of entire armies of men!

Which seems oddly reminiscent of a number of popular pornos now I think about it....

FUBAR ...

LOL, this is nothing new. Anyone remember the 70's TV line up?

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider
She didn't care if the whole world looked
Joan of Arc with the Lord to guide her
She was a sister who really cooked
Isadora was the first bra-burner
Ain't ya glad she showed up? (Oh yeah!)
And when the country was fallin' apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up

(CHORUS):
(And then there's Maude)
And then there's Maude
(And then there's Maude)
And then there's Maude
(And then there's Maude)
And then there's Maude
(And then there's.....)

That uncompromisin', enterprisin', anything but tranquilizin'
Right on Maude

;)

The only people who use the words "triggered" are people who only identify as "snowflakes", real talk.

In Great Britain, Maude was not shown nationally, although it was shown (beginning in 1975) in the ITV regions of Westward, Border, Tyne Tees, Anglia, Yorkshire, Granada and Channel.

I remember it from the 1980s because I used to watch it with my grandma in the afternoons as a wee tyke (along with Murder She Wrote) lol. I grew up in the Westward/TSW/Westcountry region network.

OP, I agree with you overall. I am definitely depressed & isolated (for situational reasons), but I'm actually an optimist who likes to see the best in everyone, so I'm really not sure how skewed my perspective is. But I live in a super rural area in Germany & while yes, it's much better than the cities, Marxism is deeply imbedded even here. No people in the West are more brainwashed than current Germans, though - Eastern Europe & Russia are the last bastions of European civilisation. If you'd like to talk more feel free to pm me. I had a post deleted for stating unpopular facts, so beware - only Marxist views are acceptable here.

Ho's be like, What do we want? Equality, when do we want it? Right after wine and lobster..

Oh yeah, it's all the same here in Switzerland, the girls wanting equality but only the good parts, like picking raisins.. nowadays the girls realize they are in control, tricking and manipulating, pick men they want, let others down and take all they can get..

Totally agree to that social media, smartphones etc. are isolating people. Everybody is locked to her/his phone, social identity being more relevant than real live. It's almost impossible to get to know somebody truly one by one, as all are in constant contact with their 'friends' on facebook etc. answering messages while being on a date etc..
