For the past couple months, I've been really excited to share a psychedelic discovery I made, but I haven't found the time to do much writing. I'm feeling up to the challenge, so let's begin, shall we?
So far, of the 4-substituted tryptamine family, I've taken 4-AcO-DMT, 4-HO-MiPT, 4-HO-MET, and 4-AcO-DPT. Up until the point of this report, I had only taken them separately. While I did find that these chemicals all had their own unique merits, I never had any trips that caused me to elevate them to the level of LSD and DMT, which I categorized in an entirely separate tier of mind-expanding power. Once I ventured down the rabbit hole of tryptamine combinations, however, I began to seriously reconsider this stance.
[The following three trips occurred primarily in my bedroom, in the dark, listening to music on headphones.]
One day, wanting to give a bit of psychedelic sparkle to my evening without engaging in a full-blown trip, I decided to put four milligrams of 4-HO-MET, along with four milligrams of 4-AcO-DMT, in a capsule, which I swallowed on a full stomach after dinner. Perhaps 45 minutes later, when I began to feel the faintest first alerts, I instantly knew something was different.
To be fair, I think my attitude was a factor in the way things developed that night, as well as the concoction itself. I made a special effort to stay positive. Whenever I hit a snag, I reminded myself of my belief that everything happens for a reason, and that there is a higher power in which I can always trust. I also made an effort to clean and organize my room before the trip, which makes for a much better environment than a disheveled mess.
However, I'm also convinced that I stumbled into a powerful synergy between 4-HO-MET and 4-AcO-DMT. My past impressions of 4-AcO-DMT were always that it seemed to have a great deal of potential, but this was always somewhat derailed, because my trips were consistently very unpleasant. As I told my therapist, I felt like 4-AcO-DMT hit the "anxiety" button in my brain, without fail. It also made me very drowsy, and yawn almost nonstop. 4-HO-MET was a more positive and highly visual experience, but I would describe it as somewhat tense, chaotic, and shallow, so I would hesitate to attempt any deep psychedelic work with the molecule.
Rather than the creepy omen that would have signaled the onset of 4-AcO-DMT alone, I felt a warm, euphoric stimulation as soon as the combination began to kick in. When it was clear that I was in for a lovely time, I decided to take it just a hair further and sniffed another four milligrams of 4-AcO-DMT.
At this point, I turned out the lights, and began to play Yaminahua's dark psytrance album Equilibrium through headphones. (Let me take a moment to highly recommend this album to any darkpsy lovers reading this report.) By the time all twelve milligrams of tryptamine were in full swing, I was completely convinced that 4-HO-MET and 4-AcO-DMT combined in such a way that the whole was much greater than the sum of its parts. It was clear that the 4-AcO-DMT was doing the heavy lifting, so to speak, carrying me through this psychedelic journey. But the 4-HO-MET was equally indispensible, giving me the positive attitude and stimulating energy that I needed to stay focused and receptive to the healing powers of the 4-AcO-DMT.
Let me put it another way: if you were to draw a Venn Diagram of the effects of 4-HO-MET and 4-AcO-DMT, I feel that most of the positive and desirable psychedelic effects of the two tryptamines would be contained in the overlapping region, where the two chemicals boost each other. All of the undesirable side effects are relegated to the outer, non-overlapping edges of the Venn Diagram, so they never become terribly distracting, because you've taken less of each individual substance.
Although I haven't experimented with a lot of psychedelic combinations, I've taken a few, such as LSD + 4-AcO-DMT, LSD + DMT, various psychedelics with MXE, and even LSD + pregabalin. Most didn't live up to my expectations. In my hopeful imagination, the best of each drug would combine to form something special, but in reality, they usually ended up feeling like an uninspiring halfway point between the two drugs, or sometimes downright nasty. So, the synergy between metocin and psilacetin seemed exceptional.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a big fan of psychedelic visuals, as trivial as they may be. At the very least, highly visual trips are more memorable, because all of the highlights of the trip are illustrated in your memory by a colorful picture. And the 4-HO-MET did exactly this: it was like a brilliant light being shone on the 4-AcO-DMT, which made it seen as well as felt, even at such a modest dose. I remember the psytrance creating visuals that contained every color of the rainbow, in brilliant saturated hues.
I began to think outside the box about my emotions during that trip. For quite some time I had been simply smiling in a pure, transcendental bliss, traveling through inner space with the vehicle of this beautiful music. But at a certain point, I began to grow somewhat tired of it. It felt too unnatural. I felt that the true beauty of life is contained in the simple, ho-hum, everyday state of mind. Sure, ordinary life is often frustrating, but I was reminded of a quote, attributed to a historical figure in Buddhism (I can't remember who), who said, "The taste of tea is the taste of Zen." I suddenly felt that life's little annoyances are like the bitter, but compelling, taste of a refreshing cup of green tea. It can be valuable to have a profoundly euphoric spiritual awakening, but the real substance of life is the mundane.
The next week, with a newly kindled curiosity, I took the combination a little bit further. This time, I put six milligrams of 4-HO-MET and eight milligrams of 4-AcO-DMT in a capsule, which I swallowed on an empty stomach. The empty stomach made a big difference in the onset - rather than gradually building up over an hour and a half or so, it hit me like a brick right around T+0:45. (Here's a pro tip: try not to shave your pubic hair while tripping. No grave injuries occurred, but I did a remarkably patchy job.)
I had a rather similar trip to the prior one, listening to Yaminahua in the dark, except it was somewhat stronger, as expected, which was very welcome. How ironic, I thought, that this seemingly dark and frantic music is so much more soothing than downtempo music, under the influence of psychedelics! Similarly, the most frightening parts of the trip were consistently the most rewarding. I won't go into too much more detail, because this report is getting long, but suffice to say that it was an excellent evening.
The following week, I tried something a little bit different. I decided to use 8 milligrams of the metocin / psilacetin half-and-half combination as a launchpad for 4-AcO-DPT. Knowing that insufflated 4-AcO-DPT kicks in very quickly, I waited until the effects of the oral combination were almost peaking, then began to sniff lines of 4-AcO-DPT. I can't recall the exact dosage, but I think I totaled somewhere around 16 or 18 milligrams of 4-AcO-DPT over an hour or so.
This resulted in an utterly unique, and extremely satisfying experience. I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's nothing like 4-AcO-DPT, it's a gem, and it's a real shame that it's relatively rare. It strongly dominated the character of the trip. However, the metocin and psilacetin clearly had an influence as well. I've never gotten much in the way of visuals from 4-AcO-DPT, but this time, I was seeing mandalas behind closed eyes. Even more remarkable were the audio hallucinations, which sounded like a malfunctioning control panel on an alien spacecraft.
Psilacetin + metocin alone was more challenging, in that it required more deliberate effort and focus. In other words, that combination was simply a way of seeing into myself, and it was my responsibility to build that insight into a positive change. This isn't a bad thing at all, and I think I ultimately prefer psychedelics which operate this way. But the three-way combination with 4-AcO-DPT felt very different. I felt like it surgically plumbed into the depths of my mind, and reprogrammed me with a method of its own. I felt incredibly relaxed, as if I had been given a chemical massage. I also felt distinctly intoxicated, almost in the way that you might expect from a dissociative. My thoughts seemed to lazily drift through my mind, as if they were swimming in a thick syrup.
This trip gave me the strong impression that some emotional wounds were permanently healed. For years, I had been deeply longing something, desparately trying to fill a void in my heart. Now, that void seems almost nonexistant.
In conclusion, my recent experimentation has shown me that, without a doubt, there is enormous potential in combining the 4-substituted tryptamines, and I am particularly enamored with the interaction between 4-HO-MET and 4-AcO-DMT, which I think was a very important element in all three of the trips I described above. Till the day I die, I doubt I'll ever see either of these chemicals as psychedelics in themselves, but rather as two interdependent halves of a psychedelic (or perhaps thirds!).
P.S. I have been using the metocin / psilacetin combination as a nootropic, and I can't wait to share my results! Stay tuned for Part II - Nootropic doses, which will explain my findings in detail!
