Is it true that as Escitalopram is a single isolmer of Citalopram it may be superior?

Can anyone comment on this? My only thoughts are the achieving a optimum dose of Escitalopram may be more difficult because it is only available in 5 & 10 mg doses.

Buy a pill cutter dude :)

Citalopram worked great for me for a long time but I hate escitalopram, go figure 8)

It's true that it MAY be superior. Whether it is or not is another story.

Yeah, buy a pill cutter. (but 10mg will be fine, I'm sure).

not really. the dose is quite small anyway.

it would be like comparing ritalin with focalin.

u dont lose anything since the enantiomer u remove from the racemate is inactive.

in theory it should lead to a drug with fewer side effects, although this is not necessarily the case in practice, and it might be offset by the increased cost in the manufacturing process.

The animal "evidence" (AKA propoganda) is that escitalopram induces "antidepressive" effect quicker.

The other enantiomer they say is not inactive but partially deletes the SSRI activity of the good enantiomer (a reason the razemat is barely active at 20mg but escitalopram is active at 10mg).Plus it has less anticholinergic effects.
