MDAO, for me the money would be a means to an end. I do not desire it for its own sake. The posters in this forum enamoured by Buddhism or other Eastern religions make a big deal about freeing oneself from attachment to material things; in a way, all the money would give me this. It's hard to reach inner peace if you're struggling to pay the gas bill, if you see what I'm getting at? If one were free of all financial responsibilities, one could really focus on flourishing as an individual.
How could a person not identify with himself? Isn't "ego" just another way of saying "person"?Most likely they are just so identified with the ego, which will never be satisfied with whatever amount of billions they accumulate. Greed arises out of ego.
I would argue that evil is a necessary concomitant of good, or at least the possibility of evil. I also really don't buy the "everyone is good at heart" thing on an experiential level. Have you never met a thoroughly unsavoury person, a real nasty piece of work? I envy you if so.I still think there is no evil, just ignorance. Every being has only 'good' in their hearts, but a lot of us just get lost on our way
