Your Beliefs

I believe God is a man made idea that allows a person to do what is spiritually in their best interests, especially cited during times when a person is going against their baser desires.
In order to ignore the physical cravings for certain unhealthy pleasures it's necessary to imagine or believe that there is some greater reward for showing such restraint. Most people think of the reward as coming from God above, if that's what works, then why not? The idea has stood the test of time, and a total rejection of it, without a suitable stand-in, has been shown to lead to many problems in a person's life.
I certainly believe in a higher power, but nothing mystical, just the whole "two heads are better than one" thing. Meaning I believe the connections between people constitute the real higher power in this world, in addition to the laws of nature and their consequences.

Similarly I believe Karma is purely a title for the sum total of the consequences of any given action. Consequences come in many forms, and they can take a toll internally and subtly, or externally and obviously.
If a person does a wretched act, then that affects his thoughts, which affects his feelings, which affects his actions henceforth, which could affect his facial expressions and body language, which affects how others may view him, and so on. Even if his wretched act might not result in a direct and obvious negative result, he is still affected negatively to a great extent. It might present itself in the form of a neurosis or other mental or physical issue later on down the line, or it might affect his social standing. Any number of things can result, and the sum total of all those results are what I think is considered by many to be Karma.
It's all pretty logical to me. Yet I think spirituality is nothing mystical, and something highly important to a person's well being.

if there was an answer, infinity would be a number and you would remember being born

but we will always have variables for things we dont know.
just like you can solve an equation multiple ways.

and i dont think spirituality exists, its just you letting go of senseless biased thoughts you hold on to.
how relieving.

too bad thats when ur the most vulnerable to take advantage of, so were forced to hold onto these biased decisions for protection.

we just need to be kept busy to convince ourselves were real. but apparently some people can be more real than others. whatever helps u get through life i guess.

and you got over this how? lol. what filled that empty hole so you no longer feel it?
The empty hole is called "me" or the psyche, and the psyche is more or less a search, not an entity. The search essentially must fail unfulfilled -- that's the only way it disappears.

The "empty hole" turns out to be the presence of the search, not the absence of what is being searched for. Compare it to an addiction to nicotine -- the problem isn't the lack of a cigarette, the problem is the addiction itself, and a cigarette only guarantees the craving for the next one. Similar type thing.

I'm not strictly a hedonist but I do believe very much so in happiness. I feel as if I have 'done good' in my life whenever I make someone happy. This is turn makes me happy and if I were to die knowing I have made myself and others happy over my lifetime then I would have no regrets.

To me, contentment, fulfillment and peace essentially constitute happiness. Or the only lasting sort of happiness, anyway -- everything else is temporary.

And the funny thing is that they require nothing but the surrender of whatever stands in the way of contentment, fulfillment and peace.

So true. Maybe the monks have it right.

Maybe, altho a lot of monks seem pretty restless to me ;). Kinda like they're forced into a rigid schedule and are beating themselves down to adhere to it. So maybe they don't have it right. It's a personal matter, really, not a matter of any religion or group type thing.

The search for happiness is a group activity, but happiness itself is not, IMO. Could be why no group-oriented "search for happiness" has it right.

^^^^^

This.....I believe it comes down to doing good onto others & making everyone around you happy. Being happy can make ailments go away once caused by depression.

I believe that there is "something more". There has to be, but I don't believe in a convential god. I believe there is something between all of us, in everything, between everything, but this something is often hard to see, or notice at all. Between my dreams, my experiences, my life, and everything, I am pretty certain there is an interconnectedness in everything that happens. I believe in divinity, but it is in us, and around us. The very fact that we are here as we are presents a clear divinity of sorts.

I believe that anyone can be forgiven, that evil doesn't exsist, and that we should try to be as happy as we can without harming others. It so important to live your life happily, because you have one life for sure, maybe more, but you know you have one, and wasting that in misery just seems foolish to me.

If there is good amongst us, there is evil lurking around also.

I believe in kindness and love, hard work and dedication. Striving to be the best you can be. Being compassionate towards others especially those around you. If you do this, you have nothing to lose. Apply this to all aspects of your life and the rest should fall into place. Staying open minded to new ideas and allowing yourself to change. I don't have the empty hole anymore because it is full of love. All of this is what gives me comfort, certainty, and good faith. It's going to be ok. <3

I believe we multiply the same way cells divide and were developing a more knowledgeable organism. It is the same way a baby develops inside of its mother. When you were inside of her, you were becomming accustomed to earth frequencies, and nutrition. Now were evolving to become accustomed to the next birth.

If you could relate to an infant and asked it if it wanted to be born, how do you thin it would respond? probably scared and would consider it death. Just imagine being an infant entering into a whole new world where everything you knew wasn't right anymore.

The universe is protecting us to ensure we make a safe transition. You are you on purpose because you contain an essential conbimation of experiences that's needed to survive. Seperation is just an illusion.
