Working antisocial hours can prematurely age the brain and dull intellectual ability

Reverting to attacking me, instead of my ideas or backing yours says it all i guess.

I'm not too concerned with what you think.

No wonder, you are taking simple exceptions that would violate the control and applying it to the results. That is amusing.

You don''t even know how basic science works, how did you become the mod of the science forum?

No, I pointed out one of your premisses was false. You will have to base the conclusion of your "logic" on true statements for it to be valid.

Im going to go ponder niche with a remedial group at the for profit community college.. you know so I can get something out of it. Im out.

Accept you didn't, because you simply just ignored that to do an experiment, you would have a control. That means you would sort out those with pre-existing conditions. This is all stuff that is already implied seeing as how they already did the study.

Good, maybe those slower folks can actually teach you what the word SCIENCE actually means.

Please distinguish between the study and your attempt at a logical argument. They are different and combining them will lead to madness. I will happily respond when this is done.

EDIT: When studying a complex situation with many uncontrollable variables, we can use a randomized controlled trial. From the data we can further promote its accuracy, by adjusting for additional relevant gathered data. Taking from a random pool we attempt to draw from areas that represent equally from as many representations of uncontrolled variables as possible. This allows us to examine the effects of the variables we are studying.

This study was conducted in this fashion.. It had a control group and used these techniques to reduce the other variables.

Cliffs: The study isn't science, which is what I stated.

On a longer note....
A randomized control is not a control. It's a hodge-podge of whatever you find that will likely populate your data sets with millions of irregularities that prevents you from establishing a clear pattern that proves your hypothesis conclusively. Additionally the link between the work schedule and the reduction of "intellectual ability", whatever that means, is never clearly established. What is known though, is that some one got paid to do a half assed study and they should be embarrassed about the low quality of the work.

.

guess we should scrap all the testing of new medications then.. Randomized controlled trial

LOL! You think that because something is common practice that it makes it correct? We allow the government to put pot heads in prison for decades FFS, that doesn't make it right.

That's like saying they can predict all of the possible side effects of millions by using ten people. With that logic, who needs science.....
