So here is my deal. I have been taking 120mg mscontin and 90-120mg oxycodone for about 4 months solid. Once in a while, I would throw in Alprazolam. My supply of morphine ran out, so 5 days ago I stopped using it cold turkey. I have felt some minor withdrawals, mostly RLS and some hot/cold flashes, but that's about it. I find this strange, because about a year ago, I did the same thing, except I ran out of oxycodone a week before morphine, felt no withdrawals from stopping oxy, but went through hell when stopping morphine.

Now I'm in a position, about to stop oxy, no tapering, and as I said, stopped morphine with minimal withdrawals. Am I gonna go through hell tomorrow when I run out of oxy? And this is where hydrocodone comes into play. I have 8 pills of 5/325 hydro/acetaminophen, when I stop oxy cold turkey, if I take one of those hydros a day, do u think it will kinda ease withdrawals? Or will I have any to begin with?

I have access to other things like a cyclobenzaprine or something like that, supposedly a muscle relaxer, and also gabapentin. I'm deathly afraid of going through withdrawals again, especially since I cannot take time from work. I just wonder if maybe my body w/d's from morphine but not from oxy? Which one would be worse?

Any thoughts or opinions would be great! And if you think I will experience withdrawals, any tips besides pepto bismol and immodium would be greatly appreciated. Mostly, I can subside the diarrhea and vomiting with pepto and immodium, but the RLS is ABSOLUTE HELL! If you know of a way to conquer RLS without prescription drugs, or even with besides opiates, please enlighten me. Thank you!

UPDATE: I went to bed, hadn't taken any oxycodone since 10am that morning, and sure enough, 2am hit and I have RLS, and cold sweats... Man this is gonna be rough. I can deal with any of the withdrawal symptoms, but not the RLS, which leads to insomnia...

Hey op
Hang in there I know it sucks and rls is the worst but it does get better. I struggled with rls for about 3 weeks I was so exhausted and frustrated I started looking at things that could help.

The 2 things that I tried were eating pumpkin seeds and compression socks (used by runners) I don't know if it was coincidence or what but the first night I wore the socks my rls was 90% better. I may have looked ridiculous but I finally slept after 3 long weeks of shit sleep.

Wishing you the best I feel for you.

One thing that helped me with restless legs was clonidine. But if you have access to gabapentin that might help too. I never used cyclobenzaprine for RLS but it couldn't hurt to try it. How are you feeling today?

Gabapentin for opiate withdrawal

Having gone through all the worst moments of opiate withdrawal , my deepest sympathy. However you sound like you are fairly well prepared for the worse(as well as you can be without opiates). Start with the hydrocodone, Try taking 5mg a day, but that probably won't be enough. Take as few as you can to make them last. When you run out of hydrocodone, Get as much of the gabapentin that you can, this will be your savior. Take 600mg to 1200mg per dose, if that doesn't work, double the dose. It will put you in a good mood, and say goodbye to 90% of your symptoms and no more RLS. This drug has no history of overdose and can be taken fairly liberally. Also the cyclobenzaprine will help you sleep. Every one's body and mind react differently to substances. This advice works for me. I hope it works for you.
REMEMBER TO ALWAYS ADD MARIJUANNA IT IS THE SAFEST MOST EFFECTIVE MEDICINE THERE IS!!!!!!
