Wisdom teeth

I tore through the first 20...but 1am today i was so pissed off, a bone wrenching ache set it and it drove me insane. Oddly enough Vodka>narcotics...put me happily to bed. I'm getting my second script now, not going to drill though/get rid of them like an idiot.

Getting all 4 taken out on the 28th, curious as to what kind of pain i should be expecting afterward. All are considered "Bony" extractions on the pricing sheet and i was told that the top two are very close/touching my sinuses so I've been instructed not to blow my nose for two weeks. Bottom two are lodged deep near my jawbone/nerve. Also, what type of meds should i expect, painkiller wise? Guessing just some hydrocodone or low dosed oxycodone

I just got mine out 4 weeks ago
O man its an awful experience. I had 2 bonys, it means your teeth are contained in the jawbone so they must "break" your jaw bone by drilling out the tooth. Recovery hurts like a bitch. U cant open your mouth for a week or two. Swelling gets bad. Day 7 is the turning point you get better fast from there. The sockets from the teeth collect lots of food etc you gotta rinse good. Having mine removed was excellent once i healed. No pain no more, no odor, i had a root canal done because my impacted wisdoms rotted out 2 mollars below the gums. I am no longer afraid of the dentist though wich i like.

I am so glad my wisdom teeth have been gone for almost 5 years now, and I will never have to deal with this again. I didn't read this whole thread, since I feel like there's a new wisdom teeth thread every few days, but --- Boost/Carnation Instant Breakfast is fantastic to get some calories in you if you can't eat. Mashed potatoes and chocolate pudding are also great, I started these on day 2 or so, but my face was so swollen and bruised I couldn't even go out in public for a while. DEFINITELY GET YOURSELF AN ICE PACK, I pretty much slept on it, and it really helped with the pain the first few days. That prescription is a bit insane, I had another oral surgery to remove an abscess a couple weeks later (they found it on the xray) and even then, I only got 5mg hydros for pain (which, for me, was plenty actually).

The t3 thing --- blaming caffeine isn't going to prevent them from giving them to you. I straight up tell them, I'm sensitive to codeine, the few times I've taken it it kept me up all night, sweating, anxious, and didn't take away any pain. So, it's not technically an allergy, but they thanked me for telling them and said there's NO reason anyone should have to deal with a pain medication they react poorly to.

I have had plenty of dental issues throughout the years as a result of being hit in the mouth by a baseball when I was younger and have always had a pretty high pain tolerance.. When I was 18 my sister and I got our wisdom teeth pulled at the same time. At this point in time I took medication as prescribed and didn't mess around with pills (oh how things have changed). The doc gave us both loritab 7.5s and they did the trick. The pain was gone after the second day and this resulted in a lot of leftover pk's in the family medicine cabinet. After my first year of college I quickly learned the joy of opiates and I soon depleted the family stash over a very short period of time (oh how I wish I had a low tolerance like I did back then!)

The pain following removal of wisdom teeth is usually gone in 2-3 days and the prescribing of painkillers varies greatly depending on your doctor and his opinion on pain management. Everyone has a different pain tolerance and if you play your cards right you can convince your doc that you will be miserable without proper medication :)

All I got was a small script of 5/500 lortabs! My mouth only hurt the day after though, and then the pain was gone, so I had my first legal script of hydro to do with as I please. Ah, memories.

i was supposed to get all 4 teeth out but one of them ended up getting really infected and the gums swelled over my teeth and i couldn't bite down for four days, and it got to the point it was so bad when i'd wake up in the mornings i'd cry and pop 4x the amount of percocet i was prescribed and i eventually couldn't even swallow things like cream of chicken soup, or even my own spit. i'd spit in the garbage all day long and couldn't even talk, and every moment that i was on oxy it wouldn't even help the pain. I took 60mg one day and i smoked alot of cigarettes and it ended up getting so bad the dentist had to make an emergency appointment to get the tooth out cuz i called one morning and explained im taking way more painkillers than i'm supposed to and not feeling any relief.

cost $420 to get the tooth out. and an addition $230 to put me under, and then an additional $50 fee...

3 more to go!
