Why Is Coke Glamorous and Heroin Scary? Because of Halfwits Like Nikki Sixx

i havent read nikkis book mostly because if you have a book about junky, no need to read anothyer one..i had always had questions about Nikkis actual heroin addiction though..it seemed he did use heroin but was he a daily hardcore iv addict??he did inject but did he use daily to where he was spoending hundreds every day??does he describe being dopesick??he does seem to be more of a cokehead than anything...yet, i read an interview where he said getting off heroin was the most painful thing he has ever and will ever do....so i dunno, was he or wasnt he a junkie??

He was a junkie, he knew he was. He did coke too. When he met Vanity she taught him how to make and smoke crack. He would get so fucked up on crack that he would go in his closet and hide because he would hear voices or think that people were coming to get him. He would do heroin to bring it all down. He got to where he was shooting heroin everyday. He got to looking really thin and sick like true heroin addicts do. He talked about spending hours bent over in his closet surrounded by dirty needles and firearms, trying to find a vein in his dick to shoot into because his veins started to collapse. He talks about being really dope sick when he quit once. He ended up relapsing from it later. Actually its used as one of the lyrics for The Heroin Diaries "Withdrawl is killing me. Its like shock threapy to my guts.... It feels like my whole body is cracking into pieces. Fragile doesn't come close to describe how I feel." Yeah he was pretty messed up at time. He talked about one he and tommy ran out of coke and heroin to shoot, so they IVed whiskey the rest of the night. Never really occured to them to drink it. But the pretty much the whole band was into drugs pretty bad, Nikki just suffered heart failure more than once and decided to write about it. Part of the money from the book goes to a charity called "running wild in the night" which helps to keep kids off drugs.

Yet heroin that gets the blame when Nikki's retarded band mates discuss his descent to what Tommy Lee calls "a dark fucking place." If you've spent any time in L.A. you've probably met guys like this. For them, cocaine is simply part of a normal healthy diet, whereas heroin is just plain evil. Odd, because among intelligent druggies opiates get a lot of respect, while coke is simply despised. For serious drug people there are two ways to go: up with some variety of speed, or down with some kind of opiate. Coke is scorned as a short-acting verbal emetic, a silly drug for moneyed trash. The only intellectuals who took it seriously were Freud and Sherlock Holmes -- one a half-baked intellectual who masqueraded his literary criticism as therapy, postponing effective treatment for schizophrenia and depression by generations, the other an apotheosized peeping tom, who of course never really existed. Indeed, both were nasty voyeurs; perhaps that's a feature of coke addiction too.

Opiates, by contrast, have been the drug of choice for an astonishing number of the really talented people of the last few centuries: Coleridge, de Quincy, Poe, Donald Goines, Jean Cocteau, William Burroughs, Jimi Hendrix.

This is so true. I love it! Just read it aloud to my gf, who prefers coke to dope, and she got mad.

Cuz she knows it's true! :D

I tell you what though, his collaborative band biography that he wrote with the members of Motley Crue, The Dirt, was awesome. It was a great look into how fucked up people can get with infinite money and infinite drugs. Very entertaining read.

LMAO Nikki Sixx actually knows who Lord Byron is?

Did he actually write the book himself or was it written by a ghostwriter?

Nice peice of prose, but talking out of his ass for most of it. "Serious druggies don't like coke" -- BULLSHIT
