What does earthcore mean to you and why are you going
This is why we are going
Why Im going to Earthcore
Why? Because Earthcore stands for something in Melbourne.
A Company that balances real economics with peoples happiness
An operation that carries Melbournes hopes and dreams and spirit
A Group of people that have dedicated their lives to the Melbourne Community for more then 10 years
A Family that is a big part of the Melbourne Culture and give back more that many relise
A Team of hard working people that care more for the well being of others and the hip pocket.
But most of all they our friends that love to party just like you and me.
To me Earthcore is where I was born and to watch others experience such an event for the first time is a timeless joy. No words can describe how it moves you. No words can explain the joy that it brings to ones soul. No words can explain the feeling of being who you want to be. No words can explain the feeling of true freedom.
No words can express the tears of joy on a dance floor as the sun rises.
If you have ever wished to fly then let earthcore take you on an experience that will live in your hearts and minds forever.
There are no words for it because that would spoil the moment of why we do it.
To remind ourselves of what makes us happy and that is to live in the moment.
To share an experience with a stranger as if you were best friends, to share moments of joy by yourself and to share moment on the dance floor when there were no words spoke.
This is the magic of Earthcore and this is why Im going.
Regards
Garth Lategan.

hahah garth i just got yer email and was coming here to paste it into a post, but yah beat me to it.
thanks for that, made me feel just a little bit happier about where our scene is today. what you have said is 100% true, and its attitudes like that which has made the melbourne scene something to be intensely proud of.
A Group of people that have dedicated their lives to the Melbourne Community for more then 10 years

and just a word garth, dont think your not a big part of that. you are a key member of that group, a loving member of that family, and real member of that team.
i know your parties aren't always up my alley, but i still thank you for keeping it real, and providing so much enjoyment for so many people.
and the most touching thing about that email was that, even though upon seeing the topic i thought it was just a pro-EC anti-GC bit of spam, it wasn't. that was from the heart, and you meant every word of it, and i think a lot of people are gunna respect that.
thanks bro.
rbb.

the feeling of nothing is important but the moment is indeed still here...enjoy to the max..

Garth you know this thread doesn't belong in the events forum. It belongs in social.
Moving it there now.

P.S. Plenty of non Melbourners venture to Earthcore each year. Don't forget them.

Because I love the idea of dancing in the wild, under the night skies.
Because I think it's going to be better than GC.
Because I never been to EC before.
Because I heard so much about it.
Because....
that's that! No reason! You will see me there!
wink.gif

I pray this doesnt turn into a GC bashing thread.
I'm going to both
smile.gif
(Thank god for the bus!)
I honestly believe that GC is going to be more stunning and probably one of the greatest events to hit this country. Having said that, nothing is like EC, and nothing is like EC @ Mt Disappointment.
I was first going to do just GC, as it's going to be huger than huge (I know thats a bad thing for most of you) but I like it
smile.gif
I shed a tear or two @ missing EC but now I'm going to both, and I do believe this will be the weekend of my life
biggrin.gif

See all you crazy kids there!

What gives with the bus?? Need to know when it's running. Apparently it's $10. Not doing gatecrasher (fear not, won't bag it either). Need to be home Sunday morning for a relo bash. Good bless my extended family.
What time is it running, cos if I can't get home early morning, won't be able to do earth core and buggered if I want to spend a quiet weekend at home while everyone else party's. Damn not having a car........
And where's it drop off. Need info. Help, please........
CHEERS ALL. Spinning.......

But Im not going to earchcore Garth.
Unless u give me a free ticket?????

I would have thought there'd be a bigger response to this thread...
So I'm gonna go on about why I am going.
Last november earthcore ranks up there in the top 10 nights of my life (and I'm not talking about parties here, I'm talking about LIFE). The venue, Mt Disappointment, is, well, breathtaking, more trees than you can poke a stick at (lots of pun intended) and stars, and smells, and DUST! Yes the dust, when I showered after I got back last time, the water was black!
The music. Scott Project and The Orb, goes without saying really, but lets forget about them. EC always puts on great music, that fits the surrounds perfectly. Variety, up and down and all around. And don't forget the lighting, which is supposed to be a big improvement on last years excellent showing (cant wait!).
The People. One of my fears for this EC was that it would loose the city element to gatecrasher. Many of you dont like these people, but the "new ravers" as I like to call them, are so much fun. I'm sure we've all grabbed a first timer by the hand and dragged them around to show them what ITS all about. Looking through this board, it looks like plenty of the city kids will be making the trek up, as well as all of us who are bussing up from GC. Then there's the other element... the element that I call the hippy feral element. I do not mean this in a derogatory way, I love these people and their outlooks. They make the whole night seem so much more down to earth, and remind us of the sanctity of our own lives.
Last but not least, its earthcore. As Smiley said, these people put more into the australian party scene than any others, they are the body and soul of us all, they go to all measures, to make us happy, and for that, we all love them
smile.gif

Rock on and enjoy it kids, it's gonna be a wild ride

Im going to earthcore cos I need my spiritual fix, There is no better place to get it. And Sunny outdoors!! get dirty to some dirty tunes, I cant wait

Earthcore, the chance to smell some air that doesn't stink
Earthcore, the chance to meet people who different
Earthcore, the chance to expand my knowledge and understanding
Earthcore, not just a party
------------------
Dancing, the eternal quest to mash my ankles into dust.

Why I go to Earthcore:
- Firstly because I know I'll have fun - and lots of it..
- It's not in some man-made monstrosity designed purely for capital gain..
- Those random people and their stories that i've found to be so much more interesting than any city event (virus aside
wink.gif
).
- That you have to put some time and effort into making your patch of dancefloor flat before the big acts come on.
- Having a chuckle at the random people that get bogged, then helping em out.
- Getting that reeeeeal excited feeling when your there having a beer during soundchecks.
- Knowing that half the tunes you'll hear there are tunes you've never heard before (and it's not for lack of trying).
- Realising that its damn good value for money when there's soo many acts and equipment involved.
- EC allows pill testing and harm minimisation groups to operate, GC does not
frown.gif
.
- Having a cold beer, in the bush, to some banging tunes, with the sun having just risen after one of the most memorable nites of your life.
- The random dancefloors that spring up out of no-where.
- The local fire-brigade/footy club sausage sizzle that's pretty indicative of keeping it real.
- Lights thru the trees, then lasers thru the trees followed by sunrise thru the trees - and no artificial smoke machines required.
- That it's not about looking good, when ultimately everyone is covered in dust/mud/crud at the end of it
smile.gif
.
- Seeing all those dusty cars when your family is in the carwashing industry
wink.gif
.
There's more, but like all things you've got to be there to know what i'm talking about. Thanks EC for making my corner of the world that little bit more sunny

"There are known knowns; there are things we know we know; there are known unknowns, that is to say the things we know we don't know, but at least we know we don't know them; and then there are unknowns, unknown unknowns, the things we don't know we don't know and those are the dangerous ones." - US Secretary of Defence, Donald Rumsfeld.

Nirav: I think that you are expected to attend

I'm going to Earthcore because of the high probability of fun ( Pr(fun)> 0.99 var(fun)= 0.001 )
I'm going to Earthcore because of the music.
I'm going to Earthcore because of sunrise.
I'm going to Earthcore because of the ppl.
I'm going to Earthcore because of the dust.

I'm in a world of shit . . . yes. But
I am alive.
Come along and sing this song and join our family.
