Why hasn't meth taken off in the UK?

So, I had the 'pleasure' of trying meth a few months ago. And hated it. However, as I was recounting the experience to a friend, she exclaimed that she had been looking for it for a while now, but has yet to come across it. I only managed to try it as I was in the USA, where its more than a little problem, especially in the West where I spend some time.

So what gives? Why isn't it catching on here in the UK?
 
Because the UK doesn't share a border with Mexico and home labs risk explosions, arrest, and generally yield a lesser product. It took off here when cartels started mass producing it in super labs. I wouldn't doubt that there's similar labs in Eastern Europe, but it still has to cross the channel to get to the UK.

The risk/reward for selling dodgy semi legal RC stims is more appealing than synthing and distributing crystal. I'm sure it'll hit eventually, once it becomes popular it becomes worth it. There's a stigma that surrounds meth and a lot of people are turned off by it, until they try it.
 
i'm not sure how much of burn2shine's logic applies, considering that we have a lot of it around in australia, and we get it all from south east asia
 
Yeah all good points, it just seems like the kind of drug that will be appreciated by the people, especially in London for some reason its still not a 'thing'. It used to be the case that people thought crack wouldn't catch on, but it did so perhaps only a matter of time.
 
I'm from California lol it's pretty much everywhere here and though it is horrible for you Its a very misunderstood drug. It doesn't matter if people don't want to do it, I didn't, but since it was there I tried it and was shocked at how different it ended up being than I expected. The drug itself doesn't make you crazy right away, it just makes you think a lot and amplifies your personality so if your already a dick or crazy it'll send you wayyyy off the edge.
 
Meth really took off in parts of the USA where traditional amphetamines were hard to come by. Here in the UK we have a nice steady stream of uppers, so we don't see much of meth. It is around, though.
 
^ That's not true at all, meth is considered far superior to regular amphetamine for recreational use amongst the majority of heavy US stim users and even in places where amphetamine is rediculously easy to get ie. Cali and texas, meth is still prevalent. Amphetamine is one of the easiest scripts to get in most of the US, which also means it's easy to get pharm quality amphetamine salts for dirt cheap.

Most people over here who choose amphetamine over meth are the one's turned off by it's stigma or just looking for a more functional high. The majority of UK amphetamine is of incredibly shitty quality and it's typically paste, so I'm also wondering why people aren't cooking up meth over there. I think the strength of the high, low cost, and ease of manufacturing is the reason why meth is so prevalent in the states.

Hmmm, does seem like it should be there..would be better than all those RC Stims that are around...I think what I read somewhere is it just has a bad stigma but is around they gay scene, so go to a gay club and make some friends I guese,lol. Where I'm at it's EVERYWHERE. Only have done it a few times and save it for speacial occasions, I love the stuff. Just talk and talk, have awesome sex for hours, plus it never really gave me a bad comedown like coke..anyway when they say speed paste is what is in the UK is that like Dexedrine??? Or is it something else, always wondered...
 
I dunno it's kinda the same deal in the part of Canada i live in. Crack/coke is the number 1 drug here besides Cannabis and it's pretty socially acceptable but there is a huge stigma behind meth here. You do get some of it around (most of it seems to be the bottle made shit) but not much. It's odd that there isn't more here considering Quebec isn't exactly far away.

Amphetamine paste is just a form of plain amphetamine (amphetamine sulphate iirc) that comes in almost a putty like consistency. I guess it absorbs liquid really well and manufacturers don't fully evaporate the solvents and/or add water to make it weight more than it really is. Typically the purchaser must break it down and let the moisture evaporate before turning into a powder, though afaik this isn't necessary unless you plan on taking it orally. (someone please correct me if I'm off)
 
The paste like speed we get in the UK, which we call base is shit. And comparing UK speed to Meth, is like comparing graphite to diamonds. No comparison.

Ive recently got back from the US, where I did more meth over the past couple of weeks. I hate meth, but I love it too now. I cant think of any thing else that I hate and love with equal measure. I almost considered becoming an illegal alien in the US; not for a better life, or to escape any persecution but for meth. Now I'm home I hate meth, I miss it and dont even want to do my regualr DOC lyrica.

Meth is around in the gay community but its only in the fringes of hardcore gay community the kind that take part in orgies, and bug parties, not in regualr gay society. Being a female, I am not going to be allowed anywhere near that kind of gayness.
 
there are super-labs in Poland making giants amounts of amps sulphate for pretty cheap
When i was in UK i could only find meth and not amps.. weird
 
because maybe (this is a theory), that in the beginning of meth production, they didn't want to waste P2P by making regular amph with it and by the time P2P was made illegal in the US someone figured out ephedrine/sudo's usefulness as a precursor
(if this is too detailed, please remove it. I figured it was OK to just mention P2P/ephedrine. kinda real basic stuff, basic enough i figure it's ok. that and P2P is now flat illegal, schedule 3 so its not like someone is gonna go OMG BUY P2P ON INTERNETZ CHEMICAL SUPPLIERZ LETS MAKE SOME SCHPEED!111111111111)
 
I think dealers see an illicit amphetamine product as inferior and of less demand when methamphetamine is so rampantly available. It's not like Adderall is exactly hard to find either, or costly by any means. Adderall has been one of easiest recreational drugs to get scripted and find on the streets of Southern California IME, especially once you get into the richer areas of SoCal like the hollywood area. When I lived in Texas for a few years it was easily found there as well.
 
Price is also a issue. Meth is atleast ten times more expensive then speed. Thats a big barrier to market entry.


Just a guess: From what i read and heard meth works best, if smoked. But people in Europe are not so used to smoke stims.
 
why then did ice, pure meth take off in a country like australia??? the asians had monopoly over the drug market and took there advantage, amphetes is like meths younger cousin.. i love amphete but nothing comes close to love of meth and its so easily synthezed it not funny just do some online reading its the most easiest chemical syntheseis most will ever know, I'd just like to aDD meth is not easily made here, takes a hell of a lot fucking arounf w the psuedo laws... get a minor in orgamic chem and your laughing here 2 high fucking heaven i guess, meth speed had a bad name here until bout 5 yrs ago was pure in crystal form, i knew was meth but the amount of times i argued with people that it not new drug ( i know all about 4-mar so spare me) but everyone thought was cool and was easy to get and stay high for days and now look at all the meth heaDS LOL.. IDK WHY NO1 IN THE UK OR CLOSE HAS TAKEN ADVANGATE OF ROI W CRYSTAL LIKE THEY DID IN OZ???
