I've never taken MDMA/MDA or anything like it...so keep this in mind when you read my post.

Why do people drink a lot of water on MDMA/MDA and other drugs like it? You'll sometimes read in the news about people dying from taking MDMA/MDA or other drugs like it and they don't die from the drug but from instead drinking insane amounts of water like a gallon at a time or more. Is there something about MDMA/MDA that makes the person want to drink a lot of water? Do they dehydrate people and make them sweat a lot like Dexedrine can?

Paranoia of dehydration and over heating causes them to over compensate. Usually they are dancing their ring off and sweating like a trooper so it makes sense to keep your fluids up. Some people just take it too far I guess

Well it does make your body work harder, but obviously not proportional to the amount of water people tend to drink on molly.
However, as OTW mentioned most ravers who use m should be hydrating regardless as dancing mg can be pretty tirinng.
Certain times at shows I would drink approx. 2 liters of water and when I would ultimate it would be very low volume and very concentrated urine.

This all started back in the early 90's when people were dying in the UK clubs from dehydration, as promoters were turning off the taps to force people to buy water or drinks. Hundred of sweaty ravers generated lots of heat when dancing and people were overheating and dehydrating. MDMA can also increase your body temperature without raving your socks off.

To counter this the HR advise from became drinks plenty of water when doing pills. The next bouts of deaths then came from people who read "drink lots of water" and thought that water was some sort of antidote for the effects of MDMA. The most famous case was Leah Betts, who died from drinking litres and litres of water in a short space of time.

The HR advise was soon amended to recommend sipping water often.

Dehydration is the most serious risk when taking MDMA/MDA. For this reason most users drink insane amounts of water to prevent dying of dehydration. Too much water, however, results in a salt debt and leads to death anyways. That's why it's important to drink only a certain amount of water and to also eat foods which to contain salt and minerals. Gatorade or propel are good choices, although they are high in sugar which could increase energy.

It is important to stay hydrated when taking ecstasy / drugs in general as a rule.

But yes, you can overhydrate on mdma i guess mda too. It has suppressant effects on the bladder, and stops you urinating for hours, so if you keep drinking you overhydrate and your brain swells and you die,

just like in the UK case of Leah betts, a daughter of a police sergent who died taking ecstasy,, mainly because of the fact she over hydrated herself thinking she was flushing the drug out, a tragic unnecessary loss of life.

It's all a bit over the top in my opinion. As long as you're taking moderate doses, you'd be fine to not drink any water. You can sweat and not die. Going for an intense run probably raises your body temperature higher than a moderate dose of MDMA. With higher doses, <200mg, the importance of hydration is probably more prevalent.

Dancesafe recommends a normal sized glass of water every hour. They also recommend thorough hydration before rolling.
Ideally you should drink a sport's drink like gatorade to keep your salts in balance.

This.
My uncle and aunt used to both be ER nurses and they said they saw alot of cases of people rolling who drank far to much water and threw their salt levels way to far off and it messed with the osmosity in their body

I've always wondered if drinking enough water, not a ridiculous amount, but staying hydrated can help keep neurotoxicity to a minimum? I've heard if you become dehydrated while rolling it is worse for your brain/serotonin receptors then if you stay well hydrated and consume antioxidants like vitamen A/C/E, can anybody shed some light on this? Back when I was rolling a lot I would make sure to drink plenty of water but I would also drink antioxidant mixes from a pharmacy and Emergen-C, that stuff you mix with water and has a lot of vitamin C in it, does anybody know if this helped at all or was pointless, or maybe even bad?
