lol Veganism isn't a problem.

Ford has hit back at accusations that the proposal is cruel, arguing it is not any worse than current practises in the food production industry.

So, the article you linked seems to be saying this proposed removal of chicken brains holds the same moral problems as current animal product industry. I don't see how you think this solves any problems, even if you were saying that animal exploitation is a problem (which I didn't interpret your viewpoint as)

Anywho is states
Thompson says that removing parts of their brain would be a more humane way to treat the animals.
So this is only relevant from a welfarist ideology and not a rights ideology. What differnce does it make to mutilate and use a setient being in a more 'humane' way (whatever that means) if we cannot justify use to begin with. I mean, if I capture YOU and remove your cerebral cortex and do whatever I want to your now brain dead body, do you really think there's nothing wrong with that? I don't have the right to render you or anyone else brain dead to begin with, nevermind whether or not you'd be sentient afterwards.

Moreover I'm pretty sure this article is a joke article and not a legit technologic press release. Amiright? It sounds ridiculous. And the photo is of a rubber chicken! Stop being spastic. I don't believe you think this is a good idea, I think you're just being random for the sake of argument.
*lick*

No, I think the problem is that some think its a grievous offence to eat sentient beings whilst others see it as a natural part of life.

I've heard conflicting things about veganism. I just hope that it can be practiced in a healthy manner, notwithstanding the economic problems that come with it, but of course that's a less pressing problem when it comes to morality.

I could take five giant steps back and try to convince you that morality itself will be the destruction of humanity if we continue to try to live by it, but I don't care to unless you're truly interested.

I didn't link the article to fight my battle for me, as you did (no offense, truly), I did it so that I could legitimate the feasibility of the notion that animals can be created which n/aren't sentient. I hope you can furthermore see that the dissent at the end of the article is meaningless: throwing value statements at something without justification. So in fact it would support my suspicion that people are against this just because a chicken without a brain may look like one with one, not because its less or more cruel.

If you do it before my brain has the capacity to feel, then yes, no problem. As it is my brain can feel, and to be honest, feels a lot more than it should, but that's beside the point, you of course have no right (by your logic).

No its not a joke. This is real.

I see it as a normal part of survival when it is necessary, and immoral when there is no need behind this theft.
Same as I don't think it's immoral for someone to steal a loaf or bread to feed their starving family, but it would be immoral for a wealthy person to steal that loaf of bread from the poor when they have no need for it. The thing about problems like this is we can all share viewpoints experiences and research and learn from each other. Obviously I believe that someday the majority of the world will oppose animal slavery as it now does human slavery but I suppose I wont be around to see whether this happens or not.

Even with all the animal industry propaganda we are exposed to, and the great number of people who believe animal products are healthful for humans, every health organisation agrees that well planned vegan diets are healthful. (of course one can be a sickly vegan living on only french fries and rice bubbles just as one can be a sickly omnivore living on fast food and coca-cola).

Morality the destruction of humanity? What is humanity without ethics? I'm clearly disagreeing here, but go ahead I'm curious.

I'm not offended, I'm proud to fight to make my voice heard, and I suppose the tedious explanations of tangents you weren't genuinely concerned about still served some good to give a rounded idea of my position to put foward to others who may also have viewpoints to express.

You may not have a problem with it, but I do and I would not preform neurosurgery on you to render you braindead *shudder* Do you realise what that would mean? If you want to commit suicide sure that's your right it's ur life and your brain, and if you were terminally ill and really sufferring or otherwise has real reason for wanting to commit suicide I may even help you with it, but to then continue to grow ur live flesh with you in a permanent coma so that I could then eat you. I find that sick and deranged. *double shudder* I'd have no right to in essense murder you if you didn't want to die of course.

It's disturbing.
Also why u not notice I did the *lick* ... for your cock...

No, its that before the brain has developed sentience, it is removed, similar to using stem cells for the replacement of defunct organs or abortion: not a sentient being, arguably not a being at all, so no problem.

We can agree to disagree, if you want, I guess.

Very little disturbs me anymore which isn't almost entirely created by my mind.

Thanks for the lick. I didn't notice probably because my doctor decided to cut off my ADD medicine.

Uh-huh, but where are these stem cells coming from? a fertilised chicken egg yes? That doesn't belong to us, it is with the hen who layed it. It's not ours to take.

Because we can do something, is very different from it being ethical to do something.
If I were able to break into ur place, and take your reproductive secretions against your will, and use them however I please I doubt you'd be argueing for my actions as perfectly ethical when I show up with a snotting drool monster and demand child support

This is going on too long. I'm bored now.
Thanks for playing with me.
xx

ethics and morality are not objective unless you can prove that they are. What is right/wrong to you is not right/wrong to me.

If you were able to break into my place and steal my stored semen then that is your right to do so. I also have the right to shoot you if i see you doing it, let you take it, do nothing at all or assist you. If i let you go then i accept that there is a chance that you will come back looking for child support and i'd have to accept that as well. I could also just not pay you child support, or kill you and the baby. Maybe even eat you both. That's my right as well and yours too, we could both eat the baby. It's actually not a bad deal to get a baby in the first place if this is a service you're offering lol.

live and let live, do as thou wilt, act according to how you feel regardless of the consequences, chew down on a big bloody steak, and when you die your body will reabsorb into the Earth. What's wrong with that? It's what everyone does anyway, well most everyone.

Unless you can provide an objective framework for morality then i don't see how you can make an argument that is objective/universal that shows that eating/enslaving a sentient being is immoral. You'd be hard pressed to make an argument that human enslavement is immoral. Without human enslavement, the amount of happiness in our world today would be far less than what it is. So all those animals slaughtered/being murdered contributes to greater happiness, which is moral according to utilitarianism.

You can't base your morality on emotions, as i have different emotions than you so we'll have a different sense of morality. You are equally entitled to be a vegan as I am to only eat meat, the only issue i find is that because i eat meat, your argument says I am acting immorally, but there's no argument to support that. Unless of course you can prove that eating a sentient being is immoral, which no one on Earth has had a convincing argument for in the entire history of the human race.

Well that's a whole lot of unnessesary violence. (might wanna look up in the dictionary what a "right" is)
Especially when we could just be normal to each other lol
United we stand, divided we fall.
What are you guys even doin in a thread about opposing the corruption of the system and it's inequality and injustice lol
Mwa mwa
funny times.
Remind me not to visit lol since you're sticking to your view you have a right to violence against others.
Yikes.

Without human enslavement, the amount of happiness in our world today would be far less than what it is.
Oh yeah, forgot about all those happy slaves. Stop tryna wind me up, I'm not falling for it.

This thread has gone way off topic and it's too late to clean up unnecessary posts. Therefore I am closing it. If you want to continue the discussion Ho-chi & Libby, feel free to make your own thread, maybe in your regional forum, as this is not a RS topic.
