edm seems to have such a negative connotation. it's a useful general term - when people use it, i know they're not talking about dave matthews band
is it electronic? yes. is it music? yes. can i dance to it? yes. then it's edm.
i mostly listen to psytrance and love so many acts it's hard to choose. but in terms of whole-catalog artists, my favourites are underworld and the chemical brothers.
Its the strangest thing that occurs in threads like this. I love classification as much as the next guy and sure when i am strictly talking about one producer I break down the music into sub types but like my God its worse then biologists trying to classify a new species when it comes to breaking apart electronic music. There needs to be a basic term that applies to all types of "electronic music that one dances (or drools incoherently) to" and I think EDM is short and easy enough that i use it.
Tipper is my favorite "producer of music that is created by digital synthesis of sounds rather then an musical instrument that relies on human muscle movement to create the sound."
