It's simple. Who is planning on getting a COVID-19 vaccine?

You must vote to view the results. Your answer is private.

If no (or yes) feel free to reply why, or which vaccine you prefer. I like the moderna vaccine.

What most people don't know is that the vaccines (except for the chinese one) also get you high for weeks so I'd recommend everyone get one.

i only want spuntik V. Oxford so trash they wont even get in australia anymore. EU is stealing all the vaccines for themselves like pzfier. I don't want to enrich the elite western assholes any further with there $30 vaccines. when the russian one is safer and more effective long term.

If that's true then it puts the DEA in a bit of a spot does it not? 🤣

I'm not against vaccines at all. But I'm also not getting a shot. Mainly because it's not really high up on my list of priorities and, well, at my age, and given my current situation thanks (in part) to this fucking virus, should I contract the fucking thing (although I'm pretty sure I had it early last year anyway but that's a another story), well, my own vaccine I keep in a dark closet and it's "efficacy" is 100% (ain't no way in hell I'm going to one of our government hospitals and ending up on a ventilator that's for damn sure). My girlfriend is precluded from getting it to due to a compromised immune system (which, ironically, was caused many many moons ago by none other than a flu vaccine that caused her immune system to go into overdrive and, well, she's been physically fucked ever since).

However and in a different time and place: I'd be torn between Pfizer and Sputnik. Pfizer: big pharma. fan here (no secret around these parts). Sputnik: solidarity with Russia. Forced to make a choice: probably the latter.

One thing I do hope though is that honest stats. are published when all is said and done. I realize that there will always be collateral damage when it comes to this type of thing. It is what it is. But I'd be keen to see how many people (if any maybe?) have adverse reactions due to their immune systems going into overdrive and attacking everything else in sight. Guillain-Barré Syndrome (or GBS) and Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) are but two possible unfortunate, and permanent, outcomes. And that's not meant to frighten nor deter people at all. As with anything of this nature: a few will be sacrificed for the greater good. And the chances of something like this happening to anyone I'd say are so slim that it's no reason to not get vaccinated. Assuming of course that these things actually do work. I personally have my doubts. But that statement is made purely on gut feel and not based on any science.

Off topic (but cannot help the way my mind works): this is probably a smugglers dream come true (all these vaccines being shipped all over the place). And of course those cunts that just got bust for making counterfeit vaccines (that's a bridge too far even for me).

Getting my Pfizer one tomorrow! Happy to get it completely. I’ve been following the covid long syndrome reports and I’d rather not risk it. I love being able to breathe and do stuff. I’m also pretty vulnerable due to low weight at the moment so I’ll feel happier when I get it.

Also going to a pretty amazing lab in Toulouse in March and can’t fly without it. Whatever. I’ll be on a beach in Croatia this summer too. 🧗🏼‍♀️

I will, when I have the opportunity. I work in a homeless shelter atm so I'll get somewhat prioritised against the whole population, but still no idea when I'll actually get it. Also my partner is pregnant and won't get vaccinated, so I wanna provide some safety for her as well.

Yes, definitely. I'm sick of life being on hold, and I'm ready to move forward. I'm not concerned about dumb shit like being microchipped, we're already being tracked entirely and effectively and have been for years. I know a handful of people who have gotten it. One person felt pretty shitty for a day and thwn recovered, everyone else experienced little to no side effects. Bring it on.

Oh yeah and I also found out I'm at risk for more serious illness because of the biologic medication I take for psoriasis.

The numbers don't stack up personally so not going to bother at the moment. If they do then yes, if they continue not to stack up then it's sensible to wait and see.
pragmatically it is a good idea to seek to avoid original antigenic sin unless it is absolutely neccessary. though this concept will be over the head of most here.

I'm a wait and see type view. I generally have bad reactions to vaccinations so I want to be sure, plus I'm also not in a top priority group. I never get the flu shot and have never seen the point. Had the flu twice, still refuse the shot. I've heard some speculate that the virus will be with us in some form yearly forever, like influenza; in which case, no, I will never get vaccinated.

Yes, as soon as I'm offered it. I had a massive sigh of relief when I saw the initial poll votes. I was concerned that more people would be against it simply because they don't trust the government. Which to me is like saying you won't get any medical treatment that is linked to the MRC or government funded/controlled research. To the people concerned with efficacy and safety, have you read the trial data (or a summary of) for the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines, or are your views based on media reports and word of mouth? I ask because hardly anyone I know who is against getting vaccinated even knew the clinical trial data was publicly available, and didn't have any real reason to not trust them, other than potentially being uninformed (which I don't mean to sound insulting to anyone at all, sorry if anyone takes offence. I don't claim to understand it all either lol). Biology is a tricky business, its only natural to fear and mistrust what we don't understand.

My wife received her 1st Moderna dose yesterday, she has a sore arm today but so far nothing worse. She's an "essential worker" (Deli worker, LOL) and got her immunization though her employer.

I'll get mine whenever they become available to mere mortals

so jealous!! no prospect of leaving the country is starting to depress me. i have a hiking trip booked and paid for but reckon it'll be cancelled.

i'm not in a priority group though i'm pretty sure what my drug use has done to my lungs and how previous viruses have devastated my life means i would probably get fucked by covid so just going to be scared of everything for the rest of the year likely.

Get on the high strength vitamin D now as it has shown to help. I wouldn’t worry too much though, honestly so many people are recovering that have had pre existing conditions too. You’ll be ok. ❤️

Got first dose of moderna last week. Little soreness and fatigue (soreness on the same magnitud as the soreness from a good workout).

I can tell it's working because whenever i close my eyes i see the word moderna in phosphenes. (joke)

I put "Yes, as soon as possible" as that is closest to my mindset but not quite accurate. I just had COVID so I'm relatively immunized for the next while anyway, so I may wait a bit until supply exceeds demand so that other people who need it more can get their shots.

Would be interested to know the reasons some will never have the vaccine and some probably won't. Anyone? My thoughts tend towards unknown long-term, i.e. several years, effects but as the lovely @MsDiz, @Skorpio, @sekio pointed out in this post, it seems the danger is minimal.
I'll answer, I can afford to wait and see. I have a low risk of infection and low risk or morbidity and mortality from coronavirus somewhere combine the two to give low absolute risk. I don't buy lotto tickets either.

There is very limited or no quality evidence vaccines prevent infection so there is no wider societal cost for the approach of doing nothing. I don't need to virtue signal, my employer is not going to insist, so why bother? If the numbers stacked up differently then I might, but if that was the case I would weigh up the options and be careful what vaccine I chose.

There is a more scientific immunological reason for waiting, which is hedging against future possibilities. The virus is shifting and mutating as expected. The current vaccines will give reasonable protection against symptomatic infection for current virus flavor but the virus will evolve. It may evolve into a super virulent nasty strain to evade current vaccines and those vaccinated with the current vaccines will have problems. This would be made worse with a sub par response to new vaccines against new strains and maybe ADE will show itself. Alternatively coronavirus will evolve into something more benign, in which case who cares if you collide with it vaccinated or not.

The current evidence for vaccine safety(or lack of) is not very convincing either.

So doing nothing and watching is pragmatic.
