Social Justice White/Straight/Cis/Male Privilege

Remember when McyD's copied Starbucks to get in on some of that sweet coffee cash? It's so predictable and phony isn't it?

Here's a song about exactly that and it's sung by a transgender! To me, the song is about FUCK YOUR GENDER ROLES! But you can decide for yourself.

This concept is toxic, and frankly just brainless. What happened to people's ability to critically think? No privilege here, worked my ass off for what little I do have, everyone else should do the same. What happened to 'content of their character?'

It’s about white people are just like black people, and it’s ok to be white as long as you put cornrows in your hair and dress like black people and make rap videos just as terrible as black people.

That’s what I got out of it anyway.

🧙‍♂️
wow what a black thing to say...

(why are black people allowed to say "what a WHITE thing to do"?? thats fucking racism!)

imagine if I went around black people and said "wow you guys are so black... look at your corn rows..." I would probably be arrested for a hate crime

yet black and brown people do it all the time to me

double fucking standards????

I'm Brown and I never say stuff like that guy is so white even when no white people are around despite it being allowed or whatever that means, since when do bluelighters care about what is being allowed really...

You may have worked hard, but you are misunderstanding the term. It doesn't mean you had everything handed to you, it just means your ancestors (and grandparents in many cases) weren't subject to slavery or segregation, nor had your possibility of success limited for generations. It means you weren't born into the ghetto with a father absent from trying to make ends meet to feed you falling prey to the drug war, and having to do the same grind to feed your baby sisters while your mother worked 3 jobs. Ffs.

What happened to peoples ability to critically think or analyze history?

And in other extreme cases, it does mean everything was handed to you and perhaps you are still living in your parents basement in your 40s, when for many black families this was not an option, because, well, your family had no basement, nor spare room.

No, most black people might laugh at that as a joke. Have you ever had a black friend? And to say you would be arrested for a hate crime is belittling the fact that most people arrested for hate crimes are in fact guilty of extreme violence and random attacks against others for no other reason besides their nationality or skin color. It's not a problem this is being finally addressed, its a very good thing - of course some folks, especially in the media might take it too far. Such is life, in America. The little bit of discomfort you feel having "your kind" singled out with cancel culture et al is nothing compared to the stigma people have faced simply for being black in America for the past... forever...

It means more than just that though, it means you are slightly less likely to get arrested when you do break the law... it means you will many times get a much lighter sentence in a court of law when convicted of a crime... it means you may get picked as a candidate for a job over someone equally qualified who happens to be black... so on and so on..

This is absolutely not true for many white migrants who did suffer persecution.

In fact, those white migrants made up the majority of the population living in the ghettoes of early 20th century America.

So yes, saying a person is privileged because they are white is clearly racist because there's a good chance that assumption isn't even true.

My family came as immigrants during the early 20th century, as refugees. My great grandfather.

Segregation ended in 1964.

And coming as migrants with even some change in your pocket set you light-years ahead of their ancestors released from slavery and captivity.

I mean, even the Irish slaves were given some land.

I think "privilege" is a poor choice of words in this context. Extremely poor, and responsible for half the disagreement over this.

This statement is equal to 'Because you have autism you are not qualified to xyz' I have have to deal with and overcome other people's misunderstanding of me.

You know what, it's developed character traits in me that I wouldn't have had if I chose to play the 'victim card.'

So yes, 'race theory' is anti human pro blame and pro discrimination.

It's like taking poop, whipping it up and calling it chocolate pudding because the description was worded in a more tasteful manner. 🙄

What are you replying to? and autism is no excuse for a lack of understanding of (recent) history.
