which mp3 player to own and why, your take on it

well im not using id3 tag on my laptop, i go by folder mode cuz thats how i like it :)

btw i just bought that sony walkman and its being filled with music as we speak :D

so im finally there :)

and the sound is really great on my Grado's sr-60, love the bass on the grado :)
had some hours of listening with them with well known music (well known if you are me...;) )
made me realize how much i love those headphone
i need to find some new iem tho, my shure ec-2 are losing sound in one ear from times to times....
i mostly bought the sony for training, and with the "winter accessory" on my head iem are the best way to go
still i wish i had something bigger, bigger control but mostly bigger memory, hopping sony is gonna go hard drive with this one,, (*160 gig*)

oh and good thing i can surf by folder, damn id3 tag are all fuckt, genre surfing is funny, mutant disco ?? wtf hehe, and i end up with 7 way to spell alt.

and thats on only 4 gig, 160 gig would be a hell of a mess, but it made me think that i should find someone who has hard drive full of good well encoded music with tag's all in order and organize...
until then, fuck id3 taggin :)

yeah my id tags are a complete disaster too, so thank fuck my mp3 player does folder browsing & playing too. it's a couple of years old now but i still love it.

Folder browsing/playing is an absolute must for me.

Having had a stupid Ipod for the past two years, with it's stupid playlists, stupid Itunes, stupid interface, stupid genres and stupid battery... I really only want a chargeable memory stick with earphones.

If Hitler were alive, he'd listen to music on an Ipod.

i got a loan of someone from work's ipod one day so i could rape the shit out of it and put a load of my stuff on it, and... i couldn't understand how to work it? i installed itunes but i couldn't figure out WHAT the fuck to do... 8)

insert device > becomes external hard drive > drag & drop files

it should be THAT simple. :!

i'm having issues with my fecking phone now as well. it shows up as a browsable drive, so dragging & dropping files is easy, but it won't PLAY things in folder or filename order, it relies totally on ID tags. i think i need to use the stupid samsung pc studio software to make up playlists. :!
 
I have a Samsung phone as well. I'm so disappointed by it. I'm not really one to spend much on a phone (am I arsed as long as it can make a phone call and do messages?), but I was a little disappointed by the restrictions on filetypes, restrictions on which approved filetype can be used for which purpose (can't use an mp3 for your alarm, only for ringtone... can't use any format for message alert, just pre-drfined ones or ones you purchase)... I fucking hate it as much as I hate my Ipod. My portable music solutions and digital life is rubbish. :X:X:X:D

Looks like we have the same player,ninjadanslarbretabar. Mine's a 2g and great for the price. My only complaint with it is that it says it's capable of holding 1200 songs. I only have 300 songs on it,no video and it says it's almost full. What gives? Plus,I can't figure out two things. 1:How to remove songs. 2:How to add video clips. Can you help me out?
 
ive got 800 on mine and didn't encounter any problem
300 songs might = 2g if they are 6min long instead of 2min and at 320kbs instead of 128kbs
i think you cant remove song on the player, you need to delete them from the computer
as for video i dont use them so i dont know

what headphone do you use ?
 
I still have a 3G iPod... it's about 5 years old and still working perfectly. I use it with Sennheisser 'phones and an FM/charger cradle in the car. Still has 5+ hours of battery life!
I also have an archos 604 with the DVR cradle for movies & tunes at home.
 
This looks really slick, I'll look into it. I'm currently shopping for a SSD mp3 player. Preferably, I want something that is 16GB, though i will settle for an 8GB. I need something that works natively in Linux, plays FLAC, and has a long battery life. So far, my top choice has been the Cowon iAudio, but they do not ship outside of the US.
In the past, I've owned an 60GB iPod video, a creative zen, and a 2gen Ipod nano 4GB. The 60GB iPod has been my favorite, but I don't like the lack of native linux support, FLAC playability, and new models.

I recently upgraded to Shure E4c's from Shure E2s. The E2s were stolen... I'm very happy with both of my Shure in-ear, noise isolating headphones.
