Which medicine for anti-depressant use?

Hi guys,

Thank you for the kind words!

Yes, I have been diagnosed with depression/PTSD steaming from sexual abuse when I was a child.

I have anxiety, and depression. However, I don't really have highs nor lows. It's very flat-lined.

I also have sexual anhedonia, I find it very hard to take pleasure in anything, including an orgasm. (sadface)

At the moment though, I'm going through hell. I came off Avanza on Monday, and it's starting to really hit me now, incredible stress and the works.

The Bupropion drug seems to be the way to go. Not too many side-effects like the other ones, and can help sexual related stuff too!

About SSRIs and Tricyclic-related anti-depressants, I've had an extraordinarily bad time on them, Prozac I blacked out 4 days after starting a normal dosage and crashed my car way in the middle of nowhere. Same for the tricyclic anti-depressants too.

I eat healthy (when I remember...) and I exercise a lot. My girlfriend has done a few courses in massaging, so she gives me that too.

All I want, is to feel... pleasure in something.

Someone mentioned Opiates? If you look through my post history, you'll find a big post on how a lot of stuff doesn't metabolise properly inside me i.e. OxyContin, when prescribed legally didn't do anything. I stopped taking them after 4 months (80mg a day) and I wasn't even hit with a withdrawal. This Avanza withdrawal seems way worse. (I'm going off it because it's not doing much).

Thanks guys! :)

If your doc gave you an option means you must be US based. Only a theory mind.

Having been on a few anti deps I really have to promote one and it's not on your list.

Mirtrazapine

Blooming perfect anti dep IMO/IME. It's not even an SSRI its an NaSSA. It doesn't fuck with your serotonin too much and it helps with your sleep especially the sub lingual tablets

No. Not the US.

If you read my post, I said Avanza, which is a brand name for Mirtrazapine.

And yes, it has been fucking with me. I've been having more flashbacks and panic attacks.

I also love mirtazapine. It's a very smooth effective antidepressant.

I wish my doctor had given me the option to go on phenelzine. I would be willing to not take drugs and restrict my diet because of it's supreme effectiveness rate.

Unfortunately, trial and error is the only way to know how each drug affects you (if any work at all).

^Interesting is the right word. I'm a bit confused about the 2 dopamine agonist which aren't really indicated for depression and anxiety. The beta blocker would only be useful for physiological manifestations of anxiety.

The MAIOs would be the obvious choice. Only a select few suffering enough would be willing to deal with the restrictions though.

Hopefully this post makes sense because I'm hammered right now.

I'm so sorry. I didn't recognise the brand name and also apologise its not been beneficial for you. I know that the interwebz can misconstrue things So I'll clarify now that I'm being sincere.

So true in my case;. Loved Mirtaz! Really was easy. Made me gain weight though, that's why I refuse to go back on it. Daft reason, I know.

^My motivation for exercise was increased by mirtazapine so when I gained weight it was actually muscle. I also used the cravings for sweets to eat way more fruit. It's a shame that one of the most effective ADs almost always causes weight gain.

I'm a big fruit fan. Love healthy eating but despite my best efforts I still gained weight on mirtraz.

Have to agree with you though Ferinox; the good ones do seem to make you pile on the pounds...
