It seems like cannabis is on its way to being legalized in the not-so-distant future, but the fate of other drugs is still mostly uncertain. What other drug/plant would you like to see legalized the most and why? Legalized as in available in stores/pharmacies to anyone over the age of 18/21/whatever and allowed to be cultivated, for plants.

Personally, I would go with codeine. It's fairly benign in my opinion and I enjoy the subtle, clean yet euphoric high. I've been able to use codeine without it affecting my next-day performance, something I've always had a hard time doing with alcohol or cannabis.

LSD/Trypts Hallucinogens; So that society become aware that being high and healthy can be possible and that addiction is a curse reserved to only some class of drug users. Once they discover that then well They might make some research on how to create the perfect set of drugs that could be used both in safe pleasure and to treat bad drug addiction with no damaging side effects. If those are legalized it will be the beginning of a new perception of what drugs are in a social sence. Nowdays drugs are bad so much that the only drug legal isnt even called a drug;alcohol.

With LSD and Trypts New open minds will born, new understanding, new acceptance. Even those not using the drug will have its adventage in its legalisation, even if they never use it. I think those drugs make the world better while others like meth and Coke make it damaged. Confusing both of those type of chemicals is where society stands now; understanding and recognizing the differance is the solution.

Good point. Reminded me of a talk I watched recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0c5nIvJH7w

MDMA. I haven't tried very many drugs but I love me some MDMA. Sadly it's hard to come by some good clean stuff in my area and if it were made legal I'd actually be certain that I was taking some pure shit. Yeah, test kits can identity the drug you're taking, but it can't tell you what the purity is. That and it sucks buying some molly and after you test it you're just like "oh.... That's not MDMA, I guess I'll just flush this down the toilet now...."

Mescalito.

MDMA LSD Psiloscybin Cannabis Amphetamine

The world would be a better, safer, more enjoyable place - people will start to think, abandon religion, and kick the establishment up the arse! Unfortunately, that's why they're all banned...

Psychedelics, hard to pick which one but if pressed I'd say Psilocybin.

BUT if I criminalise alcohol and nicotine can I add in opiates as Eveleivibe says it would be better for helping those addicted and although never really used it I think from what I've read MDMA would be a good one - lots of benefits to be got there too.

I'm actually quite surprised with the replies. I have done my share of psychedelics and psychedelic/hallucinogenic plants (datura, HBWR etc) with mind-opening results and I value them a lot, but this class of drugs is not something that popped into my head when I thought of this question. I think the reason is that psychedelics is not something one does often or with the same regularity as other, truly recreational drugs. So I guess I personally was thinking more about my daily life/routine. Of course it'd be nice if LSD was sold in the pharmacy, so I could be sure that I'm getting my lovely Alice not some NBOMe.

As for the argument that if psychedelics were legalized, the world would suddenly turn into a better place. Uhh... I'm more skeptical. The average person would probably still hesitate to try. I guess the medicinal properties of, say LSD/psilocin, in treatment of addiction, migraine, cluster headaches et al could prove very beneficial. But if we start thinking not about ourselves but about the community, wouldn't it be better to legalize something else, say opioids? Completely needless and mostly avoidable deaths due to unregulated heroin, patients in pain denied their medicine due to the "tightening of prescription opioids", international gangs/cartels raking in huge sums of money and subsequent violence/quality of life reduction for those involved in the illegal growth of opium poppy, you know the list goes on. Actually my point isn't that legalizing opioids would definitely solve more problems, I just wanted to say that the whole "help the community" part of legalization is way too complex, at least for me, to decide which drug would be the most beneficial.

Anyway, that was just me $0.02, meant to be taken lightly. I really appreciate the replies, it has certainly been interesting and has given me some food for thought.

I think you are actually right about opiate legalisation I just think that with psychedelics legalisation, the view of what drugs are will gradrually change and it will become socially ok to take drugs like LSD shrooms mescaline and safe non-toxic derivative. Once that social state of global perception of drugs is modified we can then educate on differance between drugs that kills your cells and destroy your future and those who help you build Both.

This will lead to legalisation of opiate use or even the discovery of an opiate derivative solely created to treat addiction. I dont say psychedelic legalisation is the solution im just saying it will start a chain reaction in the mass psychology that will lead to a more peaceful and less dominater/dominated world full of acceptance and understanding.

Of course only self taught people become enlightened when using pychedelics alone but with the help of experianced users, new users would get a clair view of what they are instead of simply seeing colors.

I also understood your point from the first post. It could happen. Have you watched the video I linked? I found it enjoyable to watch someone speak about this somewhat taboo subject so passionately to a public.
